The Banquet of Hoshena at Hilton Kuala Lumpur

We are honoured guests, not only at fine dining restaurant Graze at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, but also at the magic table of Her Majesty the Queen of Hoshena. Dancing elves, talking plates, and magical candles are our companions this evening, while we enjoy a feast unlike anything else.

The Queen of Hoshena welcomes us to her beautifully decorated table and invites us to dine with her. I stare in awe at a plate, carrying four arancinis, which yell out to me: “Eat me, eat me!”. Now a plate by itself is not that special, but this one floats 20cm above the table, and it rotates at the same time. Magical indeed. I obey to the instruction and quickly grab a lobster arancini from the plate. Luckily, I manage to do so without tipping it over.

An extraordinary experience

A great bite to start the Banquet of Hoshena, which, as expected, is of royal standard. After this first surprise, seven more courses follow, each even more exquisite and special than the last. We’re spoiled among others with Australian wagyu beef, poached Chilean black cod and a tiramisu sphere dessert, to name a few. Hats off to the Graze chef! Yes, there are many courses, but none too substantial, to feel bloated at the end.

Suddenly, a wind chill takes us by surprise. What is happening!? The mood in the room changes, the talking table turns silent, and the Queen seems upset. Dark and fearsome forces seem to have conquered the kingdom.

Dining for a cause

Please, help us to get the Kingdom of Hoshena back”. It is difficult to ignore the queen’s pleas, as her beg for help pierces into our souls. Her trembling lips utter words of sorrow, and in the magic mirror behind her, we can see the king, who seems lost in the woods.

The pressure is on the guests (16 in total, at two separate tables), to defeat the darkness and return peace to the kingdom. Can we succeed? We are asked to light fires, slay dragons, and energise the table, in order to save the kingdom. A super fun, relaxed and interactive experience, on top of the delectable dishes, which are absolutely divine.

And what will happen you think to the kingdom? Will the king find his way back to his queen? Will the people of Hoshena live happily ever after!?

No spoilers here… you will need to find out for yourself. One thing is for sure: you will be able to finish all eight courses and they won’t disappoint. Once again, restaurant Graze’s kitchen team have outdone themselves.

I was reluctant to leave the table after our dessert. Spending a few hours in the Kingdom of Hoshena felt like a beautiful dream, set in a forest where magic creates miracles and epicurean fantasies come true.

Would I take my teenagers here? Definitely! Any kids older than 7 or 8 years of age would highly enjoy the experience.
