Those of us who have pets, enjoy taking them out with us. Either shopping, to a coffee shop
a walk in the park or on a holiday. Kuala Lumpur, and in fact Malaysia in general, is
changing rapidly in this respect. Only a few short years ago it was unusual to see people in
public places with their dogs. Now a renovated shopping mall – Jaya One in Petaling Jaya
specifically caters for you and your pet – including ‘doggy toilets’ and training classes every
weekend.
The amount of eating establishments which allow pets has grown rapidly with new
ones opening all the time – you only have to google ‘pet friendly restaurants’ and you will be
amazed at the choices you have.
Whilst it is generally not acceptable for you to let your pooch off the lead in public places, they are still welcome in several public parks: Central Park in Bandar Utama and Desa Park City Park are probably the most popular, especially at weekends, where again they have training classes at the weekend.
New to Malaysia? Or maybe you would like to go away for a short break with your pet? Several places will also accommodate your pet – although it is advisable to always book ahead, as most places will have limited ‘pet friendly’ rooms. A few examples around Malaysia are:
Mont Kiara – The Wedgewood
Kuala Lumpur – Sri Tiara Apartments, Taman Seputeh
Melaka – Ohana House
Penang – Muntri Mews/ Muntri Grove
East Coast – Cherating – Ruby’s Resort
Langkawi – Temple Tree @ Bonton
Happy holidays with your pet!
