Me Books app: the stories come alive

I was recently given an opportunity to have a try of Me Books app and a shadow play theatre. Me Books offers both books as we know them, and in a more modern format to encourage kids to read and use their imagination.

It was a slow start as I was having trouble to download the correct apps and input the code in the right place but once I got all in order there was no stopping the play! We all love it!

Me Books Theatre – What’s inside?

Me Books Theatre comes as a set of cardboard pieces, that you will need to assemble into a mobile theatre. Although the age recommendation is 3+, you will need an adult or older kid to assist with the set up. In any case you should watch the video on how to put up the theatre. Once the theatre is up, you can decorate it with water colour or paint, glitter, stickers etc.

Storytelling Props – there are 30 props based on Little Red Riding Hood. These black props can be used to create shadows for the shadow play.

Board Game – a set of fun family board game based on Little Red Riding Hood.  This also comes with board game cards. You will need scissors and glue to make the dice and the characters.

Fun Card – 10 Theatre Fun cards.

Me books App Redeem Code – this can support up to 3 devices.

Me Books Theatre Play

Once we finished assembly and decorating the theatre the kids started with the shadow play. There is a iPad or phone pocket at the back of the theatre where you can slot your device and start to run a book and create shadow play at the same time.

It was Little Red Riding Hood story at first, then they came up with their own story with the props provided. It was such fun and I am amazed how imaginative they are. Of course it all ended up with good laugh! The props that come with the set are based on Little Red Riding Hood. My kids later decided to make their own props and create their own stories.

Board Game

The board game was equally fun with a Little Red Riding Hood quiz, riddle and actions. I particularly liked the stranger danger cards which educate the little ones to be cautious with strangers. It is important for and adult to take part in the board game to advise or discuss with the little ones what we should do if we encounter strangers.

Me Books app

You can also just sit down and relax with your kids and read the books from your device. They come with sound effects as well as interactive touch features.

Once you download the Me Books app on your phone or iPad you will receive a few books for free. You may purchase more books in the future. The books cater for children from 3 to 12 years old.

My children get access to a similar app called Bug Club from school, but if you don’t yet have such a programme this is an app that you should consider for your child/children. We definitely love the Me Books Theatre – it is was fun to build, explore and is all about imagination!!

Me Books is also a bookstore – both online and at their Nooks in Cziplee Bangsar and JB. You can also pick up one of Happy Go KL’s games at the Nooks! For more info, check Me Books website here or follow them on Facebook.
