Family-friendly Ramadan buffets in KL

This year, Ramadan starts on 5 May and runs until 3 June. All hotels and many restaurants have generous buka puasa buffets – here are our top picks. Many of the hotels offer discounts for those paying with local banks’ cards, check before paying your bill!

Jom Makan  at Hilton KL, Hilton Puchong and Hilton PJ

Jom Makan buffets at the Hilton restaurants Vasco’s at KL Sentral, Paya Serai at Hilton PJ and Garden Grille at Hilton Garden Inn Puchong are some of the top choices for Ramadan buffets in town. Vasco’s also has a Silat performance every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Traditional Malay music is performed Monday – Saturday.

Menara KL Buka Puasa Buffet

A bit of cliché, we know, but Menara KL’s restaurant offers an impressive setting for a meal, making it suitable for a special family meal. Available May 21 – June 12. Early bird offer RM96/adult, RM58/child. Normal price RM120/73. More details here.

Simply Malay buffet at Bijan

One of the top spots in town for fine Malay cuisine, Bijan has a Simply Malay buffet on, for RM120++/adult. Bijan’s food is fiery, though! More info here.

The Aneka Rasa at JP Teres (Grand Hyatt)

The restaurant is decorated in traditional Malaysian style with colourful batik, local crafts and flowers. JP Teres has a salad station, a fried selection, soups, chicken rice station, dim sum, Indian corner, roasted lamb, different live cooking stations, fresh seafood, satays, pisang goreng, a dessert buffet, assorted crackers and chips…. and so much more. We tried almost every dish and they are delicious.

We give JP Teres bonus points for:

  • The Grand Hyatt has decided to go plastic free, except for the water bottles, which are recycled reused in their uniforms. Yes, part of the Grand Hyatt staff uniforms are made of plastic bottles.
  • All rice and vegetables are locally grown. The farms are selected and approved by their excellent and passionate chef!
  • JP Teres works together with social projects in KL.
