Got a pet? You might need a vet!

Which vet to go to when your pet needs medical attention? More and more people seem to get a pet these days. Having a pet is fun, but it is also a big responsibility, as they are just like ‘hooman’.

My family has got three dogs, a rabbit, a bearded dragon and ball python. Beside feeding them, walking them (don’t forget to pick up the poo poo!) and playing with them, pets also need vaccines and annual healthcare checks. We’ve listed 11 recommended veterinary clinics in the Klang Valley for you here. Remember – a healthy pet is a happy pet!

C&D Veterinary Clinic – Kepong

The place is clean and bright, and the vets are super friendly. The vet assistant will look after your pet as soon as you step into the clinic. Rest assured that they are very professional and take good care of your pet. This is a small clinic, but they are very efficient and have got the latest equipments to sort out your pet in no time. C&D also sells some prescribed dog and cat food. More info here.

Sacred Hearts Animal Clinic – Segambut

The two resident vets here are excellent with pets. They even offer treats for your paws buddy to calm them down. Their prices are reasonable, so visiting them won’t burn a big hole in your pocket! In a corner of the clinic they sell some pets accessories and food. More info here.

Leow Veterinary Clinic and Surgery – Kepong

This clinic not only treats cats and dogs, but they also treat exotic animals like my bearded dragon! The vet treated my bearded dragon with care and knew what exactly what was wrong with it. There are not many vets in KL who treat exotic animals, so I was happy to get acquainted with this clinic. More info here.

Animal Medical Centre KL – Jalan Tun Razak

This is a fully equipped animal hospital where they perform normal health checks, as well as major surgeries. The vets, the assistant and the handlers are very experienced. For any major illness this hospital is highly recommended. However, be prepare to pay here. They recently refurbished the place and it looks a lot better, brighter and more organised than before. There is a pet shop on the upper floor that sell pets toys, food and accessories. You can get vets prescribed food at this shop too. More info here.

Paws Rehab – Subang Jaya

This is not a veterinary clinic, but a rehab centre for your paw kids. They offer complete animal physiotherapy services. Their physiotherapists are very experienced and patience with the pets. They have swimming pool facilities, treadmills and other rehab machines, as well as treatments like Pulsed Magnetic Field Therapy (PEMF), Laser Therapy and Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS). More info here.

Pet Haven – Sri Hartamas

This is a small clinic run by Dr Sam and Dr Ho, who bring you great service with a smile. They just LOVE puppies, and won’t miss a chance for a puppy cuddle, if you bring yours in. They provide acupuncture here as well for older pets, to support their mobility system. Dr Sam and Dr Ho do house visits as well, in case your pet is too worried about going to the vet. More info here.

VPAC Vet – Kuchai Lama and Solaris Mont Kiara

These clinics are very cat-friendly and they have been accredited as an ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic. This means they have met certain criteria to help minimise stress to your cats in their clinic. They also offer boarding and grooming services, as well as dental care. You may get your pet microchipped here too. They sell pet food as well as prescribed food for dietary problems. More info here.

Petcare Enterprise – Taman Melawati

Petcare is run by six caring vets. Not only do they provide veterinary services, but the clinic also offers pet boarding and pet grooming. There is also a pet store and they can help with pet taxis. They also provide house calls, which could make the check ups less stressful for your fur-kids. Dr George Abraham will be at your doorstep if you need him! More info here.

Gasing Veterinary Hospital – Petaling Jaya

This hospital provides similar services like the Animal Medical Hospital in Jalan Tun Razak. However, this place is more ‘pocket friendly’. Their vets are very experienced and trustworthy. Dr Prem is highly recommended there. The only downside is that this hospital is quite popular, therefore sometimes there could be a long wait in the queue. More info here.

Hand ‘n’ Paws – Petaling Jaya

Hand ‘n’ Paws don’t just treat cats and dogs, but also other pets like guinea pigs, sugar gliders, rabbits, hedgehogs and more exotic animals like bearded dragons and snakes. Dr. Jenny is highly recommended for treating exotic animals. They sell pet food at the clinic too. More info here.

Animal Clinic SS14 or Subang Vet – SS14, Petaling Jaya

This is another great clinic where they treat cats and dogs, but also exotic animals like bearded dragons, snakes, hedgehogs, skinks, geckos, birds, tortoise and even fish! They also offer grooming, boarding and supply dietary foods. You can also make appointments for house calls, normally 2-3 days in advance. More info here.
