New World PJ Ramadan buffet

Who doesn’t enjoy a good buffet? We visited Pasar Baru restaurant, at New World Petaling Jaya hotel, for their ‘Santapan Warisan’ Ramadan buffet: it was a great feast.

At first glance you may be forgiven for thinking that this buffet is small. Don’t be fooled, because it isn’t! The various dishes are set out in a market-style arrangement, so as we made our way around we found more and more dishes that we hadn’t seen from the entrance. There was an enticing mixture of Indian, Chinese and traditional Malaysian food on offer at this Ramadan buffet.

After a quick lap to eye up all the different dishes, I plated up some vegetable jalfrezi, which was fresh and spicy, and topped it off with some naan bread – made right in front of me at the chef station. My husband chose some satay, along with some butter chicken which he said was delicious. This buffet is definitely for you, if you are into rice, curry and traditional Malaysian dishes.

Lamb: perfect with kabsa rice

Next, we wandered over to the huge roast lamb which was carved in front of us. The meat was full of flavour and really tender – a definite highlight and perfect with the kabsa rice.

After a quick chat with head chef Khalil Zakhem, we were invited to try their speciality dish this year, Sup Gearbox – a bone marrow broth which can be enjoyed through a straw! It wasn’t something we had ever tried before, and we were both pleasantly surprised by the richness and depth of flavour from the broth.

Leaving some space for desserts…

Of course we’d left room for some dessert too and probably enjoyed a few too many sweet treats and cakes full of sugary coconut goodness. Feeling full and happy, we took the chance to finish our evening up on the rooftop bar which offers some stunning views and a relaxed vibe. It’s definitely worth a visit.

The ‘Santapan Warisan’ buffet at Pasar Baru is available from 13 April to 12 May 2021. It starts at 6.30pm, finishes at 10.30pm and is priced at RM148 nett per adult and RM74 nett for children aged 4 to 11 years.

Early Bird deals are available from now till 16 April 2021. More info here.

We were invited by New World PJ. As always, our opinions are honest and our own.
