I take another sip of my ice-cold Edelweiss beer and close my eyes for an enhanced experience. Nice! Reaching for the glass again, I find myself staring into the eyes of a big brown cow. She shakes her head – hope and pray it’s not a bull – and her bells cling-clang along the valley.
The place looks splendid, with snowy white mountains. As I take it all in, snow start to fall and covers the meadow with a soft white layer.
Oh wait. We’re in Genting Highlands, right?!
Are you eager to experience the fresh crispy air of the mountains? Go find your hiking boots and drive up to Genting Highlands, where Edelweiss Malaysia has set up a fantastic four days festival for you. Day 2 is happening right now! The driving range of the Awana Resort provides the perfect venue for the event and the trees and mountains make for the most spectacular backdrop. We had a sneak peek!
Great games and fun for everyone
That first beer tasted so good straight after arrival! We took it with us to the rooftop deck, where we headed to the handicraft counter to decorate our own mug. A great souvenir and it definitely goes in my backpack for our next camping trip.
What was next? No time to get bored at the festival grounds; there is a lot of entertainment and fun games that kept us busy, like the trampolines, the corn hole game, and the ball maze. There will be yoga as well during the festival days and a sustainability walk in the mornings and afternoons.
Starting from 6pm, there was a great line-up of international and local artists. We enjoyed the sweet sounds of Silver Lim at the well set up stage, close to the tents. We’re hoping for more events like this in the future!
No festival without food
I’d say: go local and choose wisely. Some of the foods we tried weren’t so fantastic. I found the fried mee hoon dry and the Korean sausage greasy. Just stick to the old faithful: nasi lemak and satay are recommended. All of it is great to wash down with some Edelweiss beer, which has a surprisingly nice and subtle aftertaste due to the addition of herbs. Yum!
Chill-ax
With great music, plenty of beer, lots of food stalls, and fun activities to do, this event calls out for a nice day out. The minimum age for the event is 21, so parents, either go with your grown-up kids or your big better-half kid.
After sunset it does get a bit chilly. Make sure to dress in long pants and bring a shawl. We were lucky with the weather but be prepared in case some alps-drizzle comes down. Or snow.
Remember not to drive when you’re drinking. My plus-one and I drew straws to decide who would be the designated driver back home.
Stay overnight?
Can! Behind the festival grounds, a few glamping tents have been set up. We had a peek inside and the tents look very cozy, with some comfortable looking Edelweiss blankets. Pretty pink and blue portable public toilets are available around the campgrounds and private showers for Camper Pass holders.

We were invited by Edelweiss Malaysia. As always, our opinion is honest and our own.
