When we arrived at Paradigm Mall and made our way up to Le Méridien Petaling Jaya hotel entrance, we felt this would not be your typical Christmas pre-event. We were directed to a huge hall complete with centrepieces and long tables to sit at. It was a very cool setting, with lots of the food stalls scattered at the periphery.
An event great for mingling
After ordering our drink of choice – wine or a coffee shake – we made our way to the long tables. We sat opposite some lovely people, while waiting for our event to start. After a speech from the hotel management, some lovely caroling and a beautiful light-up-the-whole-room session, we were let loose!
The piece de la resistance was the centre table, which held a huge array of delicious looking desserts, as well as the roasted lamb and some yummy looking fish. A rather unusual stall was the loklok, a Malaysian traditional food cart where you choose sticks of food and dip them in boiling water and then spread your choice of sauce on it, eating it while you stand.
I tried the lovely delicate brown sauce and Chinese noodles. We heard our neighbours ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’ about the authentic creamy curry laksa. We later found out the chef was famous for his chinese culinary skills.
Some other notable dishes were the beef satay – so juicy with perfectly crunchy peanut sauce – succulent baby potatoes, fragrant briyani, lightly flavored salted egg chicken, creamy salmon and well-marinated grilled prawns.
Thumbs up for desserts
What really made our evening were the desserts: yummy chocolate mousse, fresh mango tart, cute gingerbreads and stollen, loaded crumbly fruit cake (we had seconds), creamy New York style cheesecake, which was not too sweet, panna cotta being a fruity sweetness with a crunchy bottom, a tangy raspberry log, super fresh tasting strawberry ice cream and much more.
Our dinner partners proceeded to recommend the Rooftop bar as well as the rooms at Le Méridien Petaling Jaya – could be a good date night away from the kids!

Le Méridien’s Festive Dinner Buffet will be available from 16 – 23 December from 6.30 – 10pm and is priced at RM148 nett per adult. The Festive Eve Dinner Buffet will be held on 24 December 2022 from 6.30 – 10pm and is priced at RM188 nett per adult.
On 25 December the hotel wil host a Festive Day High Tea Buffet from 12 – 4pm and it is priced at RM138 nett per adult. A Festive Day Dinner Buffet will be held on the same day from 6.30 – 10pm and is priced at RM178 nett per adult.
