This is the third SNAPSHOT of a series of short and sweet articles about great places and cool activities we find too good not to share with you. Here’s what Ecomama did last weekend with her kids!
What is Screen X?
We went last weekend to the first Screen X Hall in Malaysia, located at GSC at 1 Utama Mall. We are a family of movie lovers, so we were very excited to experience this new 270-degree Panoramic theatre. In the Screen X hall, movies are extended beyond the traditional screen. Scenes are also shown on the side walls!
Our first impression was that the big hall we were expecting, to our surprise, was a bit smaller than it looks in the advertisement. The major part of the movie is shown only at the central screen, but a few scenes (mostly the action ones) are shown on 270 degree. Those scenes are extended all the way to the back of the theatre by projecting the film on the sidewalls.
What’s good?
The seats are more comfortable than the regular halls and especially for longer movies, that’s definitely a plus. We thought the experience was nice, but not as impressive as it promised to be. Overall we liked it though, but expected more for the price we paid. On top of the regular movie ticket price, there’s a 10RM surcharge for each ticket, also for kids.
Tips:
- Don’t forget to bring warm cloths, as the hall is freezing cold.
- Choose seats at the last couple of rows; the further from the screen, the better you will see the movie and the Screen X effect.
- I’d suggest this experience for older kids and their parents, since the panoramic effect might not be as appealing nor comfortable for the eyes of younger children.
For more info, please read further on the GSC website. Now playing: Malificent Mistress of Evil (PG13) and Terminator Dark Fade (18).
We paid for our movie tickets. As always, our opinion is honest and our own!
