11 Great places for Halloween costumes and decorations in Malaysia

Calling all witches, goblins, and little green monsters… It’s that time of the year again: on 31 October, it is said that souls of the dead and spirits can easily cross into our world. You’d better be prepared!

Whether you’re celebrating at a Halloween party, taking the kids around for trick-or-treat, or scaring your neighbours, here are your go-to stores for that one very special outfit or some funky decorations. Or how about a few hacked off arms, legs, hands or other limbs? We bet you’re all ears…

1. Spotlight at IPC and MyTown

Halloween

The Spotlight shops at IPC in Mutiara Damansara and at MyTown Shopping Centre in Cheras have got a wide range of costumes for adults and kids. You can buy them instore or online. We love their decorations, ranging from dog skeletons to massive spider webs. Oh, and don’t forget to check out their pet Halloween costumes! The shop also sells a lot of baking devices for Halloween and we love their DIY Halloween projects.

2. Daiso

The Daiso outlets in KL have got a small but very cute Halloween decorations section. No costumes for sale, but lots of fun and scary props. Have a look here at a list of their outlets in Malaysia.

3. B.I.G

The B.I.G. supermarkets sell a good range of props, just behind their checkout counters. Inside their stores, the variety of real pumpkins in all kind of sizes, shapes and colours are also impressive.

4. Balloon Buzz

The Balloon Buzz outlets have got a good range of Halloween make-up, to transform your little monsters into even more scary creatures. Their selection of costumes is quite frightening as well.

5. Party Shop Bom Bom, 1MK

Party Shop Bom Bom at 1MK is located one level below ground floor, just next to the supermarket. Their selection is quite small, so don’t expect a wide range of scary Halloween items here. We love their paper Halloween bags though, which are perfect for trick-or-treat. If you’re pressing for time (“Oh my, it is Halloween tomorrow!”) and live close by, this will be your go-to place.

6. Crystal Party Shop, Chinatown

At Crystal Party Shop (206G Jalan Tun H.S. Lee in Chinatown) they have got a good range of all kind of Halloween costumes, props and decorations. Their scary masks collection is impressive.

7. MOB Party Lab

MOB Party Lab is also located in Chinatown, opposite Crystal Party Shop, and is an absolute Halloween galore. The shop seems to specialise in freaky life-size Halloween creatures. They even move and make sounds… Scarier than life itself! We also love their blood collection. Fake, we believe…?

8. Star Enterprise

Lenggong Valley 5 1 - Happy Go KL

This place in TTDI normally sells stationery, but before Halloween, lots of good décor items can be found here as well. More info here.

9. Costumes ‘N’ Parties

This shop at 76, Jalan Raja Chulan rents out costumes and is located on level 2, The Weld. Have a look at their FB page here. You can call Yasmin on 03 2164 8184. Although you can rent the costumes online, it is worth dropping in yourself to find out which of their fabulous costumes would fit you best.

10. Century Fiesta

11. Online webshops

  • Lazada and Shopee have got tons of Halloween props. Perhaps not your first choice if you like the touch-and-try shopping experience, but otherwise these are your go-to websites. Also for Halloween costumes you can shop here at your bloody heart’s content.
  • Bugsparty is an online webshop located in Johor. Have a look at their online shop here.
