Wave goodbye to boredom in SplashMania at Gamuda Cove

Our family have been talking about visiting the relatively new SplashMania water park at Gamuda Cove, Selangor, for a while but this weekend we finally took the plunge, and we didn’t regret it.

If you’re looking for something to do with all the family that doesn’t involve dragging them around an air-conditioned mall to a constant chorus of complaints, just to beat the heat, then a trip to a water park could be the answer.

With 39 slides and attractions appealing to the whole family and a straightforward drive away, I don’t know why we hadn’t visited SplashMania sooner!

How to make the most of your day?

  • As you would expect SplashMania gets busy the later you get there. Try to arrive when the park opens at 10am to beat the crowds and then head straight to the rides or attractions that most appeal to you first.
  • Go on a weekday if you can, as not only are ticket prices cheaper, but there are sure to be less people.
  • Don’t visit on a Tuesday, as except for the local school and public holidays, it is closed.
  • There is plenty of onsite parking available at SplashMania. It is cashless though, so make sure you have your Grab pay, Touch n Go or whatever other system you like to use topped up.
  • There are plenty of lockers available to rent and they are multi-use, so you can open and close them as many times as you need to.
  • For your kids’ safety and your sanity, I would recommend having more than one responsible adult available if you are looking after more than one young child that can’t swim yet.
  • SplashMania closes at 6pm so you will need to stop and refuel at some point. There is a selection of places to grab some much-needed caffeine or a bite to eat at. We chose Jungle Jamboree that serves Western food and there were no complaints from the kids or adults!
  • Don’t worry if you forget something, as there is a fully stocked shop at SplashMania. They will even check the waterproof mobile phone pouches they sell, to make sure they are 100% secure.

Our top 5 favourite rides at SplashMania

For older kids and adult thrill seekers I would recommend the Sumaumeira Drop for a sudden fall or the Plunge for a speedy six storey descent. For families the Maniac Racers are ideal, as you can all set off at the same time on mats and race to the finish.

Treasure Tower is ideal for younger kids until tweens, as there are lots of areas to explore with no need to queue – as we all know the under fives aren’t the most patient of people. The Ravage River is ideal if you just want to float about a bit and take a break from hauling inflatables up all the staircases. I think it’s probably the longest lazy river I have seen at any of the water parks I have visited.

We also enjoyed Wild Rush, that was not only fun as you drop out of the end of the slide, but also didn’t have long queues, so you could go again and again.

Ticket prices and how to book online

It is best to book your tickets online. Tickets at the weekend cost RM95 for children under 120cm and for adults over 60 years. For kids over 120cm and adults the price is RM125. For weekday visits prices start at RM88.

Would we go back?

Absolutely! SplashMania is an ideal day out for family, friends or even with colleagues for a corporate event, as there is something to suit everyone. And as it’s near KLIA airport, you could even spend the day there before heading to pick someone up.

But if I went back again, I wouldn’t wear my black flip flops. Me and half the water park were wearing something similar, so it was hard to keep track of which were mine. Apologies to the person wearing size 44 slippers… he now has a pair of smaller ladies shoes, after I accidently swapped them.

Why not make it a weekend outing to Gamuda Cove by visiting Discovery Park or Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands as well?

We were invited by Gamuda Land Leisure. As always, our opinions are honest and our own.
