The Smokehouse Hotel: a little slice of England

Nestled in the cool Cameron Highlands, surrounded by a fusion of Malaysian and English flowers, proudly displaying pretty petals, you’ll find a little slice of England in the form of the Smokehouse Hotel Cameron Highlands.

You’ll be so glad when you finally lay your eyes on it. Even if you’re not into old Tudor style English houses built in the 1930s or blooming beautiful gardens, because it means the one hour drive up the windy country, climbing roads is finally over.

Why this place is worth a visit

Food, glorious food!

The traditional English breakfast was fried to perfection according to my husband, my children devoured the waffles and the continental breakfast was pretty good too.

A spot of afternoon tea

Whether you insist on your scones with jam or cream first, I believe that everyone would agree that enjoying afternoon tea in a beautiful garden is time well spent.

Well placed for exploring

You’re around a 15 minute car ride away from the panoramic views on offer at the BOH Tea plantation, Raju’s strawberry picking farm and the Butterfly Garden. I believe the Mossy Forest is also nearby but the entrance was so well camouflaged that we couldn’t find it. Have a look here as well at our post about things to do in Cameron Highlands with kids.

The Cameron Highlands Golf Course is just a short drive or long putt away from the hotel. This pristine 18 hole golf course is ready to be enjoyed in the cooler climes. If you prefer that kind of green tee.

Time to chill out

The average temperature in Cameron Highlands is 20 degrees. Whilst the British media would class this as a heatwave, those used to higher temperatures should bring some long sleeved tops and trousers for the morning and evenings. I was particularly snug (and smug) as a bug in a rug thanks to my very unglamorous bed socks!
