Does your child freak out when it is time to study for exams? Exam time can be stressful for children as well as for their families. To what extent are exams really beneficial for learning?
Exams… yes or no?
A lot of children don’t deal well with the stress of doing exams. Beside that, there is always a number of kids who only study just enough to pass the test. So would an approach of assessing a child over the course of a school year be better, by asking them to do presentations instead and assignments?
There are advocates of exams though, who believe that doing exams motivates children to study and that they also provide a fair way of assessing what a student does or doesn’t know.
A different approach
Australian schools saw the benefits of a move away from exclusively exam focused learning a number of years ago. The Australian International School in Kuala Lumpur thinks a different approach is more appropriate for your child needs. Would you like to know how?
