Our planet is huffing and puffing its way through omni-present pollution, overpopulation, and other ecological challenges. It is therefore refreshing to see how businesses like Qra are making a conscious effort to be kind to our planet. The question is: can we save our planet, the only home we have?
What is Qra?
Since Qra’s first outlet opened in Bukit Tunku early 2021, the supermarket has quickly established itself as a modern urban neighbourhood grocer, that focuses on ‘q-rating’ healthier lifestyle alternatives.
Qra (it’s pronounced: Q-ra) is all about imported and locally sourced goods for the multinational community and for consumers who are on the lookout for products with health and wellness benefits. Providing better and more sustainable products to the community, that’s what supermarket Qra stands for.
A new Qra store in Mont Kiara
Last month, Mont Kiara residents were lucky to see the latest Qra supermarket outlet officially opened at Arcoris, Mont Kiara. We were invited to participate in the festivities, as well as a grocery shopping experience.
After the opening ceremony, complete with a dragon dance and ribbon cutting, we were taken on a tour around Qra. The store is huge! Or should I say ‘stores’? Both sections of the supermarket are located on the Arcoris square, opposite from eachother.
On the left you can find the ‘normal’ supermarket section with your daily groceries. It has got everything, from ‘farm to shelf’ fresh produce, a bulk food section, homemade nut butters and kombucha on tap. And how about sugar-free sparkling soda, cauliflower crackers and vegan chocolate bars… There is a small flower section as well, with nice looking orchids.
Sustainable produce
I had the pleasure to talk to a few vegetable suppliers, who were present inside the store to answer questions about their products. Their enthusiasm was contagious and their knowledge and dedication to growing sustainable produce was remarkable. Kudos! The lettuce I bought had its roots still attached and I kept it fresh at home for another 4 or 5 days.
I left the store with a great selection of sustainably grown vegetables and other eco-friendly produce from the shelves, and wandered across the square to check out the other part of the supermarket.
Everything you need and more
In this part you will find a bakery, a cozy café on the side, fish, meats, and a separated pork store. For those tired after their grocery shopping, there is a long-stretched bar where you can replenish all that lost energy! Bliss, right?
The bakery looks amazing, and I would have ordered some croissants if it wasn’t for the crowd that had gathered already. The café beside the supermarket looked pleasant; I will definitely end up there one day. It has got a comprehensive menu from Australian brunch-themed delights to Malaysian inspired favourites.
With Qra at the helm of KL’s eco-aware supermarket chains, we may stand a chance to treat our planet and the environment around us a bit kinder. Are you with us?
