Pullman Putrajaya is apparently closing down for renovation in 2019.
There we were, standing with the kids around the pool (in the heat) wondering where to go next when all of a sudden a hotel staff hands us four ice creams with a big bright smile and heads off in his Segway. Such was our experience at the Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside!
Pullman Putrajaya is an easy solution for a staycation. Pack the kids, switch on Waze and head to the administrative capital of Putrajaya. You can be there in less than 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is situated within 4 acres of landscaped grounds along Putrajaya Lake.
Kid-friendly activities
Pack some sunblock, swimmers and beach toys for the little ones cause you’re heading to the beach… wait, what? Located a short walk from your room, there is a man made mini-beach where kids can get their feet wet, build sand castles and fill their buckets with water by the lakeside. This was certainly one of the highlights for the kiddos. Bring a picnic mat plonk it down on the fine sand and watch your kids have fun.
From there, rinse off the sand, hand them their water bottle and a snack and head to the kids pool for more fun 🙂
Good to Know: There are a total of four swimming pools in this resort.
The entire surroundings is akin to a giant play land. Look up and you will see big bubbles floating about the poolside area. Kids can pick up giant bubble wands scattered around and make huge bubbles!
For younger tots and an indoor option, head to the Kids Room. I have to say the Kids Room at this place is next level. Fully carpeted, the room is equipped with ample toys and a slide. There is a TV as well. What I found puzzling though were two toddler beds located by the side! Maybe some kids need a nap in between? The hotel also houses a Game Room and Wii Room (yes, we’re talking to your husbands).
You can also just take a walkabout with the kids around the hotel. Find your way to the koi pond and they will be delighted to have a look-see.
Cycling in the Federal Territory of Putrajaya is seen as a great weekend activity by many. The hotel has one and two-seater bicycles which can be rented to go explore the city as well as used around the hotel.
Rooms
The rooms albeit spacious, seem pretty dated. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment which was extremely comfortable for two adults and two small children. There are also guest rooms and suites as options. The architecture of the rooms deserves some mention as they are both ethnic and stylishly executed. The best rooms of course come with a view of the lake. Be sure to ask for a hotel map upon check in as the grounds are truly sprawling.
Tip: Ask for a Rafflesia Room if you want a view of the gorgeous courtyard on the hotel grounds along with a balcony overlooking the Putrajaya Lake.
Food at Pullman Putrajaya
You can find both Asian and Western food at the hotel’s dining options. If you are there during a busy weekend or school holidays do opt to have breakfast early as the restaurant can get rather packed. The food overall was average, however, the buffet breakfast had a vast spread.
Although the upkeep of the hotel could definitely be improved, it is a nice hotel for families to unwind as there are lots of activities to choose from. I can’t guarantee free ice creams but I do think the kids will have tonnes of fun!
Take note: All guests are charged a parking rate upon checkout.
