If you’re seeking a quick escape from Kuala Lumpur’s busy streets, consider a trip to Kebun Che Mah. It is located just 3 kilometres behind the National Zoo, and only a 20-minute drive from the city centre.
Kebun Che Mah’s Bukit Tabur in Kemensah is gaining popularity among nature enthusiasts, and it’s becoming a go-to place for hiking.
An easy to medium hike
The hike isn’t too challenging, so it’s good for those new to hiking. The lush landscape, filled with different fruit trees and vibrant forest plants, adds to the experience. Our own kids are too young, but I’d say that kids 12 years and up should be able to do the hike.
You’ll come across a gate while ascending the 1.31-kilometer trail to Kebun Che Mah, or the Che Mah Garden. They will ask you to pay a small entrance fee, which we found worthwhile.
You have to hike for 1.31 kilometres to reach Kebun Che Mah. If you want to save time and energy, you can choose to pay for a four-wheel drive car or you could rent an ATV from the Kebun Che Mah organisation.
At about 2.6 kilometres from the start, you’ll reach a junction. Taking the right path leads to the top of the hill and the left path goes to the lake. As the left path is a longer journey we didn’t have time for that, but I heard that the hike is more than worth it! We enjoyed stunning views of the mountains. All kinds of fruits are growing there.
There is also a place on top called Off Road Café for you to enjoy food after a tiring climb, but it is only open during the weekends.
So, if you’re looking for a memorable outdoor adventure close to Kuala Lumpur, make Kebun Che Mah your next destination to explore nature and to have fun!
