We were invited by New World PJ Hotel to sample their Christmas offerings on a lovely Saturday afternoon. On weekends, they serve a Festive Afternoon Tea at their RC Lounge, which is on level 29 of the hotel. The view from this level is amazing. You can see the whole of PJ and more.
The RC Lounge is usually reserved for guests who stay in their Residence Club Rooms and Suites. But for this festive season, they have opened it up for guests who book in for the Festive Afternoon Tea. The lounge feels intimate and have limited seating. It felt like we stepped in to a friend’s cosy living room.
Shall we start with desserts…?
On this Saturday, we got to sample the Christmas buffet and Festive Afternoon Tea. I must say, the offerings which drew the largest crowds for the buffet were the desserts. From gingerbread men to yule logs to stollens and more, the entire dessert line immediately got us in to the festive mood. If only I had brought along our Santa hats!
No Christmas without turkey
The main attraction of a Christmas spread is always the turkey (for what is Christmas without it?!). The turkey at New World PJ was good – as it wasn’t too dry. They even served up a turkey chicken rice, which my son made a beeline for – ha!
The other meat option was a roast lamb. Now, this was a hit at our table. The meat was tender and full of flavour. We went back for multiple top ups.
Hurray for the scones
As with all afternoon teas, New World PJ Hotel’s Festive Afternoon Tea comes with both savoury and sweet treats, with choices of coffee or tea. The scones that come with the tea, are the best ones he’s tried yet – according to my husband. I would believe this to be true, as before I knew it, they were all gone! All ‘credits’ to my husband. I on the other hand, savoured the sweet treats. They were all really pretty but hey, someone’s got to do it! And guess what? I wasn’t sorry that I had to break the little desserts into pieces as I was rewarded with such tasty morsels.
It turned out to be a great family outing for us. (As if it won’t be, when you get to fill your tummy with delicious food!).
Festive Afternoon Tea is priced at a promotional price of RM99 for two pax and is served at their Lobby Lounge, Mondays to Fridays, 3 – 6pm, while on the weekends it’s served at their RC Lounge. I would highly recommend going on the weekends, as you get a view with your afternoon tea. An early bird promotion is running now until 15 December.

Please note that parking can be a bit confusing, as they share the same parking facility as Paradigm Mall. Just look for the yellow pillars that will say either Hotel Lobby or Ballroom entry.
