If you are feeling fearless and on the hunt for somewhere memorable to take the kids, then why not head to the Observation Deck at the KL Tower, situated at the heart of the city.
Sure, there are higher towers in the world, but not all of them offer you the opportunity to take a photo of the family on a glass bottomed ledge: Sky Box @ Sky Deck KL Tower. Our kids strolled out onto it with no problems, my legs however took a little more convincing to make the move onto the see-through floor to take a snap.
Unsurprisingly, as it is the star of the show, there is quite a queue to have a picture taken on the glass ledge with the Petronas Towers in the background. However, as we discovered having giving up queuing after ten painstaking minutes with five bored children, there are in fact two glass platforms to have your photo taken. The second one had a minuscule queue in comparison, but no view of the Petronas Towers. It was a no brainer, we opted for that one instead and decided we could always Photoshop the iconic Towers in at a later date.
We went at midday, but I am told that the best time to go is just before the sun sets. So you get the benefit of seeing KL in all its glory by day and lit up at night. The trip to the observation deck cost RM290 for our family of four, so it is not something you would want to do every day.
Like us, you can tag on a walk through the tree tops by visiting the KL Forest Eco Park, which is right next door to the Tower and stroll across its canopy walkway.
Both the Eco Park and a trip up the KL Tower are great ways to introduce friends and family to the diverse range of activities that KL has to offer. Just one last piece of advice whatever you do, don’t look down!
