If you are on the lookout for a very special book for the kids, you’ll love the Lost My Name books. These personalised books have become quite a hit in the UK and Australia and since they offer free global delivery, it is a great item for your Christmas list.
What makes these books special is that the protagonist of the book is your child: the story is about their name. The book starts as the child wakes up to find their name is missing from their wardrobe door. They then set off on a magical quest to find it, meeting all sorts of funny creatures along the way. The creatures start with the letters on your child’s name and help him or her to track that missing name. My copy will be wrapped for Christmas but I can’t wait to see my daughter’s face when she finds her own name on the last page of the book!
Ordering Lost My Name books
The ordering process is made super simple and takes minutes. You insert the name on the website, choose the look of your character from different options and click away. I had lots of fun choosing the pages: there are several options for each letter so you won’t end up with same page even if the name has duplicate letters. Also if you have siblings, their books will be different. If your child has a short name, extra pages will be added – I was impressed how they’ve really thought about everything.
If you’d like to add a dedication on the first page, put in your details and pay by credit card or Paypal – and you’re done.
The quality of the book is superb. I chose the soft cover option and it is made of thick, matte paper that feels sturdy – likely to last in the hands of little excited readers. The pictures are adorable and the text is the witty kind us adults enjoy reading. My kids enjoy Julia Donaldson’s classic children’s books and I find Lost My Name follows on that tradition but with a modern twist.
The book is available in 11 languages and it’s recommended for kids aged 2-6 – I would agree with that and only hope I had gotten it earlier
A Lost My Name book costs GBP19.99 which is about RM110 at the moment. The free standard shipping to Malaysia takes 2-3 weeks so if you want your book for Christmas, hurry! There is also the option of express delivery, but at GBP22.95 it doubles the price of the book! It would also make a fantastic present to little family and friends in other countries: you can add gift wrapping and have it sent directly to them.
