Chinese New Year is coming up! We were invited by Hilton Garden Inn to try their Chinese New Year promo at Rooftop 25 Bar & Lounge.
As soon as we elevated to the 25th floor, a pastel blue swimming pool greets us with calm serenity as we step out of the elevator, and then, it was the view that took our breath away! With the Petronas Twin Towers and the KL Tower as the backdrop, it makes Rooftop 25 very attractive.
But this is not all it has to offer. Dining here is double special, because of the fine food and amazing ambience. The restaurant is currently offering a double celebration of Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day – a perfect combination for couples as well as family and friends.
Fortune Flavours The Bold
For the CNY promo, the theme is Fortune Flavours The Bold – a wordplay of the popular proverb ‘fortune favours the bold’ – and that encapsulates the spirit of boldness in the creation of the Chinese New Year menu. We had the Prosperity Yee Sang with Norwegian smoked salmon and it was amazingly good – the salmon was perfectly smoked and delicious!
Personally, I would prefer them sliced thinner and tossed with julienned carrots and radish strips to give it a more natural taste and look. Other than that, it’s certainly something different compared to the more common raw fish yee sang.
Next we tried the à la carte special: Stir Fried Longevity Noodle with Smoked Duck Breast. The succulent, thick and tender duck slices are just heavenly! They are good enough on its own I feel, but paired with the Stir Fried Longevity Noodles, they are over the roof! Together, they are to be savoured slowly to take in all the wonderful combinations of oriental flavours specially created by the house chef.
And now, for the main attraction: the Prosperity Platter – featuring deep fried Sichuan-style soft shell crab, salted egg calamari, Cantonese dry-fried prawns, Shanghai dumplings and sweet potato fries with chilli coriander dip. I really liked the Shanghai dumplings and caramelised sweet potato fries. The dumplings were prosperously filled with chicken minced meat, and the sweet potato fries were perfectly done with an added punch from the caramelisation.
Lovers of soft shell crabs and calamari might enjoy the platter as the portions are quite generous – perfect for sharing! Guests can order it à la carte or have it in a package deal with Norwegian Smoked Salmon Yee Sang and a Chinese sweet soup dessert.
Packages and specials
The Prosperity package goes for RM308 nett (dine in) and serves four persons. It includes the Prosperity yee Sang, the Chinese New Year prosperity Platter, Snow Fungus and Longan Tong Sui, Rooftop 25 Signature Grilled BBQ Platter or Longevity Bonus. Blackout date applies on 14 February 2022.
