We recently did a one night staycation at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara. This 5-star hotel is situated in Damansara Heights, away from the hustle and bustle of KL city.
Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur is a great place for a relaxed stay, yet is also super convenient with the nearest MRT station (Pusat Bandar Damansara) just 5 minutes away. Hence, it is easy to get to major tourist destinations, perfect for business and leisure travellers alike. The hotel is also connected to DC mall, which gives you plenty of dining options, should you wish to venture out.
The rooms at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara
Check in was quick and easy. Despite arriving early at 12 pm, our rooms were ready for us. Yay! As a family of five with small kids, we needed two interconnecting rooms. The rooms we stayed in were called luxury rooms. Beds were super comfortable, as you would expect in a 5-star hotel. The bathroom was nice and spacious with a bathtub and the toiletries provided are from Balmain – luxurious indeed!
I loved how there were extra pillows in the room cupboards. My kids are notorious sleepers, and I always need pillows as a ‘barrier’, so they don’t fall off the bed.
There is also a Nespresso machine, should you wish to make a coffee. Our rooms didn’t have much of a view (unless you are the type who enjoys looking at parked cars in a vast parking lot), which was a pity. However, there are rooms in this category that face the swimming pool, so I’m sure this can be requested.
A nice touch provided by Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is that they have a turndown service. Not many hotels do this these days. It was great to come back after dinner to a nicely made bed, with the curtains all drawn and lights dimmed – made me want to go to bed straight away! The only thing holding me back were the chocolates and cookies housekeeping left for us on the table and they were delicious.
Sunday brunch at Nizza
Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is home to three restaurants: Wan Chun Ting, Nizza and Kwee Zeen. We had the pleasure to try out Nizza, a French-Italian restaurant, for Sunday brunch. The main dining room is inspired by the French Riviera and is tastefully decorated with blue and white hues. There are also tables outside by the bar and pool deck with a live DJ spinning some tunes, if you want to dine al fresco.
Sunday brunch at Nizza is a mix of buffet style and table service. There is a good selection of salads, antipastos, bread, desserts, and cheese at the buffet. My kids were already eyeing the chocolate fondue section the moment they entered the restaurant.
They happily ordered their pastas from the live cooking station outside, while helping themselves to some pizzas too. We also ordered some beef, lamb, and sausages from the BBQ fire pit as it smelt so good and it sure didn’t disappoint. Loved the char on the meat!
My favourite part of the Sunday brunch was the seafood tower served to the table. Think French oysters, slipper lobsters, mussels, scallops and shrimps all beautifully plated out on ice. Everything was so fresh! We also ordered some dishes from the ‘made to order’ list and we settled for the grilled salmon on organic black sushi rice and the spicy buttermilk chicken alla Milanese. After some macarons, tiramisu and chocolate cake from the desserts section, all of us were ready to roll ourselves back to our rooms.
Breakfast at Kwee Zeen
Breakfast is also a sumptuous affair at Kwee Zeen, the all-day dining restaurant in Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara. The breakfast selection is very extensive – perfect for picky eaters, but maybe not so good for indecisive people! There were plenty of Asian selections – nasi lemak with chicken rendang, roti canai with assorted Indian curries and dahl, congee with various condiments, and a live noodle station.
Those who prefer a more western selection will love the egg station, the bread and pastries section and cereals, yoghurt, cheese, cold cuts, juices and plenty of fresh fruits. I personally loved the Asian selections – the nasi lemak with rendang chicken had a nice spicy kick.
Alas, all good things must come to an end and it was time to check out. Everyone gave a thumbs up for our staycation, only gripe was that it was too short, so we will need to come back for a longer stay next time.
Despite it being 15 minutes away from where we live, Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara felt like a nice getaway from our daily routine, and my daughters still called it a holiday. Hah, I guess now I know I don’t need to spend money taking them on overseas flights when a hotel staycation down the road can do the trick!

Parking is charged at RM10 per entry/per night. Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara shares the same parking basement as DC mall, so be sure to look out for the signs that say ‘hotel parking’, in order to park on the correct floor close to the hotel lifts.
Sunday brunch at Nizza is RM158+ per adult. There is also an option to add on free flow of alcohol. Also, if you are not a hotel guest, you get to enjoy access to the swimming pool, sundeck, steam rooms, sauna and changing rooms.
