In our food-heaven named Kuala Lumpur, the choices for family friendly eateries seem endless. Are we spoilt for choice? We dare to say yes! To help you out with the decision ‘where-to-take-the-kids’ this evening, we’ve created our list of favourite family restaurants for you.
1. BBQ Lamb KL, Kemensah
What could be more fun than cooling down with your bare feet in the refreshing water of a river, having some nice bbq food on your plate? We’d say: try BBQ Lamb KL in Kemensah, just around the corner of the National Zoo! Only open during weekends and you definitely need to book ahead.
You can reserve your table via Whatsapp on 012 211 4100. Not suitable for those with strollers or feebly legs, since it takes a few steps to get to the riverbed, where the tables are. More info here on their FB page.
2. Tiffin at the Yard, Sentul
Hello Instagrammies, this is your place to be! With ample parking facilities and a great dining atmosphere, Tiffin scores high on our list of family friendly hangouts. Besides being an upmarket food hall with many food options, there is always a lot going on at Tiffin. Check our review here and for info about activities, have a look at their FB page here.
3. The Ganga Café, Bangsar
How to choose from all those lovely dishes at the Ganga Café, where all food is vegetarian! Choose their tempting Pani Poori or Samosa Chaat as appetisers and don’t forget about the Gobi Manchurian and the Ladies Paneer. The Ganga Café has got a nice cozy restaurant at 19 Lorong Kirau, Bangsar. They’ve got an outlet in Plaza Mont Kiara as well.
4. Siu Siu restaurant, Seputeh
We love Siu Siu for its great parking lot across the road, the delicious food and the spacious covered dining area. If you expect fine dining, service with a smile and brocade table linen, this is not your place. If you’re into authentic Chinese food, no menus around and an out of the city vibe, this is your place to take the kids next time. More info here in our review.
5. Out of Africa, PJ
Fancy a great venison meal or roast while the kids are having fun within eyesight in the pool? Can! At Out of Africa the beer is cold, the atmosphere feels like an eternal summer and with these lazy vibes it is easy to spend a few good hours here. More info here in our review!
6. Frangipaani, Bukit Damansara
A must try for some good Indian food together with the family is restaurant Frangipaani. From their Butter Chicken to the spicier Roghan Josh and lovely paneer dishes, we think all food served here is delicious. Located on the first floor of the Republic building, Frangipaani oozes a cozy atmosphere and an upbeat vibe. When you book, ask for a spot on the balcony if you can! Have a look here at our review.
7. A Little Farm on the Hill, Janda Baik
Not exactly in KL, but this quaint little restaurant with its beautifully set, breezy open-air dining area is a must-try for families who don’t mind the one hour drive up into the cool hills.
A Little Farm on the Hill has got everything to offer for a lovely, slow afternoon with beautiful food. Kids can roam around the place! For reservations, please click here.
