Pangkor Laut Resort must have been created by the Gods. It’s one of those places once you arrive, you’ll never want to leave again.
How lucky we all were in the last month of 2020, to enjoy a few weeks of interstate travel and non-restricted dining with the whole family. As if by a sixth sense we felt it wouldn’t last long, so we travelled and dined like it was our last splurge on earth. All of course within the boundaries of the SOPs…
Let the journey begin!
Three hours is all it takes to get out of the hustle and bustle of KL and drop in one of the comfortable lounges of the air-conditioned office of Pangkor Laut Resort at Marina Island Pangkor. A smooth check in by the friendly staff, followed by a speedboat transfer to Pangkor Laut Resort on Pangkor Laut island is just the beginning of your journey. Oh by the way and this is for the real jet setters, helicopter transfers direct to the resort are available, do enquire with the hotel!
Sunset cruise
A must-do is the sunset cruise, offered by the resort. It is great fun for the whole family, young as well as older. The cruise package (RM215 per person) comes with a free flow of drinks (wine, beer and soft drinks) and canapés, being served to you while the ship takes you around the island.
The waves were quite bumpy when we left port, so we decided just to sit down and not walk around too much. Hats off to the crew for their balancing skills! They managed not even to spill a single drop while going between lower and upper deck with their trays, to serve us lovely bites and drinks. It was amazing to watch the island from afar, while the sun was casting its last rays over us.
When you’re arriving to the other side of the island, which is not accessible for the common resort guests, the crew will tell you about the private houses on the beach, where famous guests have stayed.
A thunderstorm to appeared when we reached the dock at Pangkor Laut Resort and we managed to reach the covered area of the reception just on time before the rain started.
Tips
- Book the cruise as soon as you arrive at the resort. Due to popularity, it books out quickly.
- If you’re with younger kids, either stay below deck or put a life vest on them in case you want to venture on the upper deck.
- No shoes allowed on board, so wear flip flops or other shoes that are easy to take off and leave behind.
- The cruise is depended on the weather; they will not go ahead with the cruise in case of storm warnings and rain. Have a plan B ready, just in case!
Chapman Challenge
It’s time to get fit and strong! If current times allow, the resort will organise the Chapman Challenge with a run, a hike and a swimming component in June this year.
If you’d like to explore activities with kids on the larger nearby Pangkor Island, have a look at our review here.
You can find more details about the resort itself in one of our previous posts here. When you book, make sure to check out the residents’ package on the resort’s website here.
