The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Lantern Festival or Mooncakes Festival, takes place annually on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar. This year, that day falls on September 10.
The festival was a time to enjoy the successful reaping of rice and wheat with food offerings, made in honor of the moon. Today, it is still an occasion for reunions among friends and relatives to eat mooncakes and to watch the moon, a symbol of harmony and unity.
Mooncakes come in a lot of varieties, texture and tastes and are available in abundance in KL. Never tried a mooncake before? This is your chance! We’ve cherry-picked the best places in KL to buy this year’s mooncakes here in this listicle for you.
