If you like a good flying fox this is the place for you! You’ve probably been to Skytrex in Shah Alam that unfortunately is no longer in operation. The facilities there were damaged in a thunder storm. The damage was beyond repair, but fret not, there is a new one in Sg Congkak!
Skytrex Sg Congkak is located in Ulu Langkat, about 50 minutes from KL. To get there a windy road takes you through small villages – our trip was quite entertaining thanks to the kids reading the villages name in Bahasa Malaysia from the GPS and then translating them into English. It was quite a good laugh!
Upon arrival we parked at the designated area and were amazed that there is a nice and clean river right next to the car park. We registered our names and got all geared up for the adventure. You may rent a locker there with a small fee to keep your stuff.
There are two trails for you to choose from – The River Thrill and The Rapid Extreme – or you can choose the combination of two, dubbed The Double Dare! We choose the River Thrill as I was not sure whether the kids could handle the Rapid Extreme. The minimum height for the trails is 110cm. Unfortunately, there is no “Little Adventure” trail like at Skytrex Shah Alam so this location is more geared towards older kids.
Our female guide Raja was super helpful and very patient with the kids. I was advised not to take my phone along for safety reason as well as the unpredictable weather. We felt very safe thanks to the double locking system which means you cannot unlock both safety ropes without locking one in. The River Thrill was so much fun: we did so many ziplines that we lost count! The best part is that you are truly flying through the forest and above the river! How amazing is that?
Please keep you hands and legs still during the ziplines as the trees are so close to you!
If you are afraid of height this might not suitable for you as some of the lines are quite high up.
For those who are not into ziplines or not tall enough for the adventure, the environment is very pleasant to hang around. You can pack some food and drinks and have a picnic by the river while waiting for the daredevils to finish their trail. We managed to have a quick dip in the river after the trail and it was very refreshing. There are tables and chairs along the river and a nice trail along the river for cycling! There is a toilet for changing and ‘quick fix’ but please bring your own toilet paper.
Overall both myself and the kids had a great fun and we will try the Rapid Extreme next time! The Skytrex Sg Congkak is more focussed on the flying fox/zipline and not too much of the obstacle course. In River Trill I counted only four obstacle courses in total and the rest are ziplines. The river next to Skytrex is a definitely a bonus! Don’t forget to stop by some of the fruits stalls on both side of the road for some yummy local fruits on your way out.
It is advisable to book online to get a cheaper price and to choose a time slot. Avoid walk-in as the slots may be full on that day.
Opening hours and more info on Skytrex ticket prices can be found on their website.
