St. Giles Garden Hotel Kuala Lumpur which closed in 2021 during the COVID pandemic, recently reopened as St. Giles Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur after undergoing massive refurbishment and upgrades.
I was at the grand reopening ceremony recently and I will say that St. Giles Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur looks nothing like before (we did a staycation once many moons ago, back in 2014). The lobby area is sleek, and spacious with pockets of areas for quiet tête-à-têtes, akin to someone’s living room.

There’s an Eight Ounce Coffee Co. stand at a corner of the lobby, serving up artisanal fresh brews along with cakes, and pastries. I like the fact that this tiny part of the hotel is run by an independent Malaysian brand, thus giving it exposure to tourists. Big kudos to the hotel!

We were invited to an international buffet lunch at Ember & Brass All Day Dining after the ceremony. The spread was sizeable and food was delectable. Although, they perhaps weren’t fully prepared for opening day as some of the dishes were missing their placards. This wasn’t an issue though, as lots of the dishes were the usual fare you would find at any other buffet worth their salt.
Rooms at St. Giles Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur
Before I left the event, I was given a tour of the upgraded rooms. Decked out in grey and dark brown, with open-planned bathrooms, the rooms were modern and polished.

With the revamp, the hotel now features 448 fully renovated guest rooms, including the Deluxe Room and Premier Room, with bathrooms featuring a bathtub and separate shower. Whilst the Wau Deluxe and Wau Premier categories offer sweeping city views, and access to the Wau Lounge.
Extra plus points
The location of the hotel is pretty unbeatable, with access to The Gardens Mall and only a short walk to Mid Valley Megamall. This gives plenty of food options to hotel guests should they prefer to have their meals out, plus there is lots of shopping to indulge in too. It’s also not too far a distance into downtown KL for tourist sights and landmarks.
In conjunction with the reopening, they’re running a “Reopening Offer” of 30% off for bookings (stays are valid until 30 September 2026). You can book here.
A good point to note: the hotel is a fully cashless environment. So have your cards and e-wallets at the ready!
