Time has gone so fast and all of a sudden, it’s that lovely time of the year again… This is whereby DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City’s ‘Season Of Splendor’ makes a great choice for a Christmas buffet with the family!
It perfectly fits the criteria of having a sumptuous and delectable meal with your loved ones whilst enjoying quality time together.
Which is why I decided to bring along my 13-year-old son to accompany me on this delightful evening with an incredible spread. And what a feast it was! Let’s just say, Noah has put a 5-star mark on all the dishes he tasted – and he is usually quite picky with his food.
How did ‘Season Of Splendor’ acquire the 5 star rating?
To start with, the Makan Kitchen team had created a colourful and beautifully decorated spread. Headed by Chef Lee Keen Suan, the entire year end festive and holiday season at DoubleTree has been carefully planned and laid out with a string of great feasts.
Besides organising the buffet spread at Makan Kitchen which we attended, they also created a 4-course Christmas Set at their restaurant Tosca, a sweet & savoury Christmas Hi-tea as well as Christmas goodies to enjoy at home from The Koffee and Axis Lounge. A great task that certainly should not be ignored!
Ten Grand Roasts of Christmas
With regard to the mouth-watering food at Makan Kitchen, I cannot begin to praise how well prepared and attractive the dishes look. First, there is the Ten Grand Roasts of Christmas, and oh my, roasts are literally one of my favourites to indulge in. To me it was the main attraction, beside the Fine de Claire Oyster Bar.
Some of the buffet highlights I just have to mention are the oven-roasted apple cider-brined turkey, the Beef Wellington, the Salmon Coulibiac, and the maple-glazed turkey meatloaf. My favourite dishes beside the roast would be the salmon and the turkey. Other dishes available are the oven-baked ginger flower salt king fish, and roasted prime rib.
Local flavours alongside Western ones
What’s great about the spread is that local flairs like the slow roasted berlado rub lamb and itik madu bakar (honey roasted duck with spices) are also part of it, so that one can have a large variety of choices to choose from. And how about kepak ayam madu, tulang gear box – braised lamb shank with spices and chili gravy – and durian tempura?!
Unfortunately, my belly didn’t allow me to taste all of them, for I was beyond full by the time I had to put a stop to the over-indulging. Oh, and not to forget the desserts! I just couldn’t help myself for digging in, even though my belly couldn’t stomach all of them.
There were also Christmas-inspired beverages like mulled wine (with alcoholic) and the non-alcoholic Candy Cane Christmas.
Check it out folks, because honestly you will not regret it! Eat, drink and be merry with your friends and family, because it is that time of the year and you deserve it.
Dates and prices
Christmas Eve Dinner is available on 24 December 2022, from 6-10.30pm. It is priced at RM 188 nett for the buffet only, and RM 278 nett with a free flow of red and white house wine. You could make it a joyful celebration at RM 350 nett with a bottle of house champagne.
Christmas Day Lunch on 25 December 2022 from 12.30 to 4 pm.
Priced at RM168 nett buffet only, and RM288 nett with a free flow of red and white house wine, and Christmas Mimosas. With a bottle of house champagne, it will be RM 350 nett.
