Qra, the modern neighbourhood grocer known for its unique blend of grocery shopping has opened its fourth outlet at The Campus in Ampang. This new store represents a significant milestone for the brand, continuing its mission to redefine the grocery shopping experience while fostering deeper community connections.
The Campus
The Campus, once home to the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL), is being transformed into a vibrant, multi-purpose lifestyle hub. This redevelopment integrates dining, retail, and entertainment, making it a destination for everyone. Qra’s new outlet, located on the former school’s basketball court, retains elements of the site’s historical charm while reimagining it as a modern grocer.
Spanning 16,000 square feet, Qra @ The Campus is the brand’s largest location since its founding in 2021. This flagship store features a sleek yet welcoming design, with spaces that encourage connections among shoppers. It’s bright, airy, and spacious and I really enjoyed spotting elements from ISKL, like the original lockers, which added a fun and nostalgic touch to the shopping experience.
David Tseng, Founder and CEO of Qra, shared the store’s vision: “The overall design concept was inspired by The Campus Ampang’s community driven ethos and its blend of sports, education, and leisure facilities. We aimed to create a space that reflects Qra’s curated experience philosophy while bringing in the neighbourhood grocer that harmonised with the vibrant, activity focused surroundings. The design combines modern functionality with warm, natural elements to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment”.
Let’s shop
And what can you buy? Well Qra @ The Campus boasts a truly impressive range of curated imported and local goods, fresh produce, and high-quality meats and seafood sourced from trusted local suppliers. A standout feature is the made-to-order butchery service, where customers can have their meats marinated and cut to their preferred size and weight.
This level of personalisation extends to other offerings, including homemade products like nut butters and freshly pressed juices. The store also highlights local and artisanal products in its Lifestyle Section, including an exclusive collaboration with Malaysian stationery brand CzipLee. It was very exciting to see a lot of brands I have not seen anywhere else.
Socialising at Qra @ The Campus
One of the most exciting features of Qra @ The Campus is the “After School” section, inspired by the location’s educational roots. This relaxed, playful area is designed for community events, workshops, and social gatherings. Shoppers can enjoy smoothies, exclusive drinks, and Qra’s signature Kombucha on tap, which now includes a clear protein drink on tap for those seeking a healthy refreshment.
Qra @ The Campus has also integrated a cosy dining area within the store, setting itself apart from traditional grocery experiences. The Kitchen & Bar offers a variety of hot meals, pastries, and beverages, along with alcoholic drinks for those looking to unwind. The Pick & Grill service is another highlight, allowing customers to select their preferred meats and have them freshly prepared on-site, paired with sides of their choice.
Qra even collaborated with local artist Willwin to design murals that celebrate the vibrant spirit of The Campus Ampang community.
Qra is clearly setting a new standard for neighbourhood grocers in Malaysia – one that combines quality, innovation, personalised services and community connection. Its offer is impressive and even though I live on the other side of town I will be a frequent visitor here!
We were invited by Qra. As always, our opinions are honest and our own.
