I have always had a soft spot for horses, and there have been times in my life that I have been severely bitten by the horse bug. I have always thought that horse riding is an excellent hobby that teaches kids compassion, responsibility and respect towards animals. There is just something magical about these creatures! So I was pleased when my youngest changed her approach to ponies from “panicked” to “very eager”.
The easiest place to try out pony riding is at Mont Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort, where pony rides for kids are available every Sunday morning 9-10. RM15 for a couple of laps around the school feels pretty steep, but the smile on their face is priceless, really!
A much more affordable option is the DBKL-operated stable at Titiwangsa Park, open on weekends, public holidays and school holidays in the mornings and again in the afternoons. Rides there are only RM1 – RM1.50/lap, depending on the kids’ age. They also do carriage rides.
Other places for pony riding
There are other places to ride in and around KL, that we are yet to try. If you have tried any of these, we’d love some recommendations – especially on places that are serious about welfare of the horses!
Selangor Turf Club
Royal Selangor Polo Club
3Q Equestrian Centre
Denai Alam Recreational and Riding Club
Taman EquestrianPutrajaya
Colmar Tropical in Bukit Tinggi
Riding for the disabled operates on different riding schools and accepts volunteers.

Dear Happy Go KL Team,
We’re in the process of moving our blogspot over to a wordress platform. Please come take a look and tell me what you think. We’re still working out the kinks and learning a new system so all feedback is much appreciated. Monica: theyumlist.net
Great new and fresh look! Your fantastic photos get the attention they deserve and we love the fact that the front page has more recent posts visible now. The search functions are also super useful. Nice work!
