Luretta DOP: a (re)fresh taste of Italy

Luretta DOP

Tucked away in 1 Utama Shopping Centre’s new wing, Luretta DOP has long been my go-to for genuine Italian dining in Malaysia. Founded in 2015 by Italian brothers Nico and Chef Emil Sassolini as a humble deli inside Isetan, it specialised in premium imported cheeses, artisanal cold cuts, and their family’s own organic wines from Castello di Momeliano in northern Italy’s Colli Piacentini hills.

Overwhelming demand led to its expansion into a full-service restaurant in the brighter, spacious ground-floor premises—complete with the original deli counter for take-home treats. It’s a testament to how passion and quality  always win.

The décor is casual and cosy: modern-rustic with smoky blue tiled floors, warm gold accents, farmhouse touches, and a relaxing outdoor terrace. Soft lighting and gentle music create a welcoming vibe – perfect for lunch or dinner.

The food draws from hearty northern Italian traditions, especially Romagna. As one of the few Italian-owned and operated restaurants in Klang Valley serving pork, Luretta DOP is able to present Italian cuisine at its most authentic.

Generous portions feature homemade pastas, succulent porchettas, pizzas, creamy risottos that taste like Nonna’s. Everything is made from scratch with imported DOP ingredients for that authentic taste.

New menu at Luretta DOP

I attended the preview of their brand-new refreshed menu (launched 17 March 2026), and it just got better! It introduced fresh seasonal dishes and creative twists while keeping the classics. Standouts include three stunning burrata salads made with freshly imported (not frozen) burrata—preserving its delicate, creamy texture—making Luretta DOP one of the few spots in Malaysia offering this authenticity.

There’s also expanded housemade gnocchi and tagliatelle, more thin-crispy pizzas with classic toppings, rustic focaccia sandwiches, additional lamb and fish options, plus vegetarian pastas.

Signatures like slow-roasted porchetta, housemade sausages, and Roman-style carbonara (no cream!) remain unbeatable.

Pair it with their standout wines from the family-owned Luretta vineyard—organic, biodiverse, and full of character since the late 1980s. Labels like Pantera, Achab, and Carabas blend international and local grapes for elegant, balanced expressions.

For weekday diners, don’t miss their lunch set menu from RM33++ (a main course paired with a seasonal salad or soup of the day) – perfect for a quick, satisfying Italian fix without breaking the bank! And they have an attractive Happy Hour offer Monday to Friday, from 4pm to 7pm – buy 2 cocktails free 1, 15 % of any 4 Italian beers and a glass of wine for only RM20.

Affordable, authentic, and run with genuine Italian warmth by the Sassolini brothers, Luretta DOP is far more than mall dining—it’s a warm embrace of Italy. Five stars for consistency, that benvenuti feel, and this exciting new chapter. I’m already planning my next visit!

We were invited by Luretta DOP. As always, our opinions are honest and our own.
