Kuala Lumpur is a city with a diversity of cultures, which contributes to the various type of cuisines and restaurants found all over town. So how do you choose where to go for lunch with the family when there are so many choices?
For me, it makes it easier to choose if the place not only serves great food, but also offers an amazing ambiance too. Well, what if I told you that I recently discovered a newly-opened spot near the city that combines a variety of restaurant and dining options that are all set amongst lush bamboo landscape and greenery at every corner. Say hello to Bamboo Hills, the latest foodie dining destination. We decided to take our girls there for lunch.
Restaurants
Bamboo Hills is indeed a foodie’s dream destination, as it houses 11 unique restaurants all scattered around the 16-acre site. Numerous delicacies ranging from modern Australian cuisine to craft beers to Japanese barbecued meats to authentic Neapolitan pizzas, there’s bound to be something to satisfy everyone’s tastebuds.
Amongst some of the restaurants/cafes to explore are:
- Botanica+co (focus on barbecued and chargrilled food)
- Ginger (modern Australian cuisine)
- Nok Yung (Thai cuisine)
- Taproom (craft beer and pizza)
- Kanpai Yakiniku (Japanese cuisine specialising in grilled meats)
- Starbucks
Most of the restaurants have al fresco dining options, so guests can sit outside to enjoy the tropical greenery. Every restaurant is beautifully decorated, and they all have plenty of natural sunlight. When we got there in the morning, we decided to grab a drink at Starbucks, as it was still a bit too early for lunch. However, when we decided to grab lunch at 11.45 am, all the restaurants were either fully booked or had a long waiting list! So, important tip: remember to make a reservation at your preferred restaurant beforehand. For reservations at any of the restaurants, please click here.
A Japanese garden
As all the restaurants are surrounded by lush greenery and bamboo trees, I felt like I was in a garden in Japan. The green landscape coupled with the zen pond provides such a calming and refreshing atmosphere. There are plenty of insta-worthy spots. We caught some people taking pre-wedding photos and graduation photos, so it does speak volumes about how nice the landscaping is. Bamboo Hills is a great dining destination and it’s a breath of fresh air for everyone who needs a quick break and escape from the concrete jungle of KL. Definitely a place worth exploring with family and friends!
Where is Bamboo Hills?
Bamboo Hills is located at Taman Bukit Bambu Off, Lebuhraya Duta – Ulu Kelang, Taman Bamboo, Kuala Lumpur. Bamboo Hills is easily accessible, about a 15 minutes drive from KLCC. You can easily spot this location, as it’s just off the DUKE highway and is bordered by the east by Jalan Ipoh and bordered by the west by Jalan Kuching. There is ample parking in the area – we got there at 10am and there were plenty of parking bays. Additionally, it’s also directly linked to the new MRT 2 line via the Kentonmen Station.
You can find more info on the Bamboo Hills FB page here.
