Adventuremama and her family love food! Every weekend they try out a restaurant they haven’t been to yet. Read all about their experience in this week’s snapshot at restaurant Frangipaani.
What is Frangipaani?
Restaurant Frangipaani serves authentic Indian food in a British-Indian colonial setting. It is located on the first floor of the newly repurposed Republik building. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening you can enjoy a live pianist. There is a cute little terrace, for those who like to sit outdoors. Dishes are meant to be shared, but Frangipaani also offers a kids menu with some vegetarian options.
We started with Aloo & Moong sprouts chaat (RM14+), which is basically boiled potato with beans and spices and is a protein-rich dish. My 7 year old daughter, who normally only eats raw cucumber and tomatoes, was a big fan of this dish. Along with this, we had the most juicy and tasty boneless chicken, marinated with creamy cheese, garlic and methi, called Murgh Malai Kabab (RM34+).
My 10 year old is a mutton fan, so he chose the Anglo Indian meatball curry (RM40+) which comes with coconut rice, while the man of the house is a lamb lover and ordered the tender and spicy Rogan Josh (RM38+). My absolute favourite Indian dish is Palak Paneer. This is not on the menu, but if you ask they will prepare this for you. Great service! We also ordered some butter and garlic naan as a side dish.
The kids washed away the flavourful food with an exotic virgin mojito, while I had a cucumber cocktail with Indian spices. Frangipaani has a great selection of wines which pairs with Indian food.
Why is it good?
All four of us found this the best Indian food we ever had and we definitely want to try more dishes on an evening when the pianist is playing. We also recommend this restaurant for a romantic dinner or a family celebration.

Frangipaani is located on the Mezzanine Floor of Republik, Jalan Medan Setia 1, Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. Kitchen opens daily for lunch and dinner.
