In October worldwide people embrace the colour pink, to raise awareness for the cause of breast cancer. A pink ribbon, pinned on jackets or dresses, is the symbol for this cause. Hilton Kuala Lumpur offers a Pink Ribbon Series afternoon tea at their Lounge during October!
There’s something special about an afternoon tea experience. Besides devouring all kinds of great fancy bites, the occasion makes a perfect excuse to dress up. When we arrived at the hotel, it was pouring with rain, but it didn’t stop us from dashing into the Lounge, where a beautiful all-pink three-tier tray was waiting for us.
The afternoon tea is designed keeping the hotel’s mindful eating pillar in mind. The afternoon tea treats are infused with ingredients such as berries and beetroot, rich in antioxidants and filled with cancer-fighting benefits. Mindful indeed!
A feast for cream-lovers
If you like cream, you’re in for a treat… The savoury items like the salmon roulade, the beetroot flavour éclair and the brioche were very tasty – I loved the ‘sandwich 2.0’ with the salmon – however most of the sweet pastries have got a soft creamy filling that simply melts in your mouth. How about a Strawberry Ivory Chocolate Popsicle, a Berries Pavlova or the Hazelnut Choux?
Our absolute favourite though was the pink reddish ‘Kiss of Hope’, with a soft dark chocolate centre. Pity there was only one for each of us on the tray!
How to pronounce scone?
Is it scone like in ‘gone’ or scone as in ‘cone’…? We were just happily indulging in them! An afternoon tea is not complete without scones, and the ones from the Hilton were perfect, crisp on the outside and soft but not too moist in the middle. The accompanying clotted cream and hibiscus jam perfected our scones experience.
All this goodness was accompanied with a roselle hibiscus tea. A great choice, as the slightly tangy tea went well with the afternoon tea treats.
