Imagine indulging in a selection of exquisite desserts, pastries, and festive savouries, all thoughtfully crafted to reflect the magic of Christmas. Whether you’re planning a family get together, a chic gathering with friends, a romantic date, or simply treating yourself to a moment of indulgence, the Festive Afternoon Tea at The Lounge, Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur promises the perfect experience.
Perfectly crafted sweet and savouries
The moment I stepped into The Lounge, I was greeted by the sight of a beautiful Christmas display of cakes and pastries (think panettone and Yule logs!). Everything looked amazing, I knew I was in for a treat. After being ushered to our seats by the welcoming staff, the waitress promptly took our tea/coffee orders. Since I was with my 5 year old, they offered her a hot chocolate while I went with the house blend tea. Just as we were getting comfy, out came the main event! It was a sight to behold. The Festive Afternoon Tea two tiered tray featured an array of seasonal treats that captured the spirit of Christmas through both sweet and savoury offerings.
Starting with the savoury options, the coronation turkey salad sandwich embodied the taste of Christmas – think turkey, roasted chestnuts and spiced ginger bread – a perfect combination of Christmas flavours. The Christmas roast sandwich was another Christmas flavour bomb. Thinly sliced roast beef, Comte cheese, bone marrow butter and pickled shallots served on onion bread, need I say more? Other savoury options include the petit lobster roll (the lobster was so fresh, this was my fave!), hot smoked salmon tartine and a mushroom croque with truffle pieces atop whipped ricotta.
As for the sweet options, the desserts were crafted beautifully to the Christmas theme and my daughter couldn’t wait to dig in! There were chocolate Christmas baubles filled with cinnamon chantilly and cherry compote, gingerbread men cookies sandwiched with whipped ganache, advent candles made with elderflower mousse and pear jelly, and chocolate snowflakes atop pecan nut cakes. Everything looked so pretty and tasted wonderful too (nothing overly sweet!).
Perfect ending – warm buttery scones
No afternoon tea is complete without warm scones. Keeping in line with Christmas flavours, there were two types of scones on offer for the Festive Afternoon Tea – plain and gingerbread with cranberries. These were served with cinnamon apple marmalade, clotted cream and chestnut butter. Every bite paired beautifully with my tea and really made me feel like I was experiencing Christmas with all the cinnamon and chestnut! Even the little one devoured the scones, it was that good! Definitely one of the best scones I’ve had in KL.
