Galeri Petronas is hosting a nostalgic exibition, #tanahairku, built around past Petronas TV commercials. What is very cool about this exhibition is that they have recreated the scenes of the ads, and touching and photographing them is encouraged – making it perfect for kids. There is also a room full of great street art. Open until 7th February 2016, it makes for a great stop if you find yourself in Suria KLCC.
Galeri Petronas: #tanahairku
Sit down in this living room of the bygone years to watch the commercial.
The old fashioned class room and drawing station are sure hits with kids.
For some reason I found this one hilarious: “If you were made in Italy, instead of Gombak”.
It’s fascinating to see the passage of time through good times and tough years in these commercials. These idealistic clips would make great material for someone studying constructed identities, but for the rest of us they provide a glimpse into the olden days in Malaysia.
#Tanahairku is open until 7th February, entrance is free.

Wish we were around to check it out!
We often visit this gallery when in KLCC. Haven’t seen this exhibition yet though. Thanks for the share. 🙂
