Nestled in a suburb in PJ lies the Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur, where a Christmas Day Buffet Brunch and a Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner will be served at the Swez Brasserie. The menus are extensive and the desserts sublime. They also have gifting options!
A true Jinglefeast
We started with the mains and helped ourselves to the Wild Norwegian Salmon steaks which were juicy and well cooked, the Pan Seared Irish Duck Breast with truffle Hollandaise sauce paired with purple sweet potato mash, (super nice!) and the fresh, firm Grilled Citrus Chili Prawn with Mango Pineapple Salsa. We then moved onto the Paella with NZ mussels, a perfect oily combination, soft flavourful Tomato Risotto which was really more-ish, and gravy-laden Sous Vide Rack of Lamb with Braised Red Cabbage and Cherry Reduction Sauce. What a combo!
We also tried the Lobster Bisque soup (fishy as some like it), an interesting Tricolor Quinoa gratin which was luscious, and of course they had a seafood corner for the fans, with prawns, oysters, green mussels, and a diverse array of sushi, delectable fresh sliced sashimi, and tempting California Hand Rolls. Do try the misleading looking tasty beetroot tasters with cheese – they look like little dessert tarts!
Turkey as turkey should be
The piece-de-resistance was the free-range, locally-grown turkey – from a venue not to be disclosed. It was so tender and juicy, and paired perfectly with Yorkshire puddings, giblet gravy (who knew!) and cranberry sauce.
Onto the heavily laden dessert table, we honestly didn’t know where to start! Delicious Yule Logs, obligatory Chocolate Fountain, to-die-for Mixed Berry Mascarpone (creamy with the tartness of the berries and hubby’s favourite), good ol’ reliable Bread and Butter Pudding with Custard, Berry Jelly Tart, Tiramisu Cup so creamy and fluffy, light Cheesecake and highly recommended Panfried and Baked Pecan Pie. It looked like a giant choc-chip cookie.
We thought the buffet is definitely worthwhile! Parking is easy at the hotel and although the restaurant is not the most romantic of settings, we still enjoyed ourselves.
