From the moment you step into the AC Hotel by Marriott Ipoh, you’re greeted by a tastefully designed interior. The lobby, adorned in soothing greige tones, exudes sophistication and warmth. The staff is super friendly, making you feel welcome instantly.
The 291 rooms are a highlight: spacious, serene, and equipped with every modern comfort. The beds are super comfy, ensuring a restful night’s sleep that leaves you recharged for Ipoh’s adventures.
Dining options at AC Hotel by Marriott Ipoh
Dining at the hotel is a treat. For lunch, we visited the Luk Yu Tea House, which boasts a Cantonese menu. We savoured shrimp dim sum, pan fried succulent Angus Striploin with house made special sauce, and tropical garoupa with lychee, longan and pineapple – each dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Special mention goes to our server Lim – attentive and knowledgeable.
At 5:30pm, we headed to the AC Lounge, where tapas, grazing plates and a 1-for-1 cocktail deal awaited. We tried the signature ACGT cocktail and the sangria which honestly was one of the best I have ever tasted.
Probably the only small hiccup of our stay was the breakfast at AC Kitchen. The restaurant at 8am was packed to the brim, with queues at every station, creating a chaotic atmosphere. The food selection, while decent, felt limited for a hotel of this caliber. Spreading dishes across different sections could maybe ease the congestion and enhance the experience?
Head and shoulders above the rest
The AC Hotel by Marriott Ipoh boasts a truly impressive array of amenities that set it apart from traditional city hotels. On the rooftop, you’ll find a spa, a well-equipped gym, and – surprisingly – pickleball courts – definitely an exciting feature for active travellers. On another floor, Studio 88 offers recording studios/karaoke rooms and a game room with ping pong and pool tables, perfect for unwinding with friends or family. And in case you want to get married/remarried or host an event for your numerous friends, AC Hotel by Marriott Ipoh has ballrooms galore to choose from.
There is also an option of joining the Ipoh Tin Mine Club, an exclusive membership for business travellers, offering a space to network and strategise while honouring Ipoh’s tin-mining heritage. For RM3,000 per annum, members gain access to a host of benefits including a stay in the luxurious penthouse!
