A sumptious feast at Vasco’s Hilton KL this Ramadan

Hilton Ramadan

There are buffets, and then there are Buffets – capital ‘B’ deserved. Staying true to Hilton Kuala Lumpur’s reputation for excellence, their Ramadan buffet in restaurant Vasco’s is nothing short of top-tier. Nikmati sajian, eratkan jalinan meaning “Enjoy the feast, strengthen the bond”, is this year’s theme, inviting guests to indulge in delicious flavours while enjoying quality time with their loved ones.

All-day-dining restaurant Vasco’s boasts multiple live kitchens the whole month of Ramadan serving up a variety of local specialties including Malay, Chinese, and Indian cuisine. Eager to dig in, we held back though, while making our rounds to admire the food on display.

Outstanding seafood

Happy to see the diversity in food options – there are also Japanese, Korean and Italian dishes available – we started with the fresh seafood. I couldn’t resist and piled up my plate with fresh oysters, prawns and mussels. Every bite was wonderful. A must-try for any seafood lover! Next for me was the sushi and sashimi corner and this was equally delicious. The grilled seafood from the bakar station included Portuguese style Tasmanian salmon, sting ray sambal petai, and scallops and even though these were slightly overcooked and contained a huge amount of garlic, all grilled items were absolutely delicious.

Other stand outs were the Australian lamb neck assam pedas and the free-range chicken rendang. We didn’t get around to sampling the food at the Italian section, but we did notice a group of school kids – apparently invited by the hotel – enthusiastically digging into the pizzas, macaroni, and lasagna with big smiles on their faces.

Vegan selections at Vasco’s

My plus one this evening was vegan and it was interesting to see how she navigated through the buffet. She was delighted with the selection of fresh vegetables, the perfectly grilled aubergine and carrots, and the customisable noodle soup, where diners can request their preferred ingredients from the staff.

This DurianMama was thrilled to discover a whole lineup of durian-infused treats at the dessert corner – Musang King durian ice cream, crispy durian tempura, and serawa pulut durian, best described as a rich durian soup with rice cake. For those turning up their noses – you’re missing out! But don’t worry, there are plenty of other irresistible desserts too, like mango mousse, small cakes and a great selection of ice creams.

We were happy to learn about the hotel’s Green Ramadan campaign, meant to enjoy a meaningful Ramadan, both uplifting your palate and the planet. Adding to the festive atmosphere, diners were serenaded by the Cahaya band, playing traditional music.

The Ramadan buffet at Vasco’s is available from now till 30 March 2025 from 6.30pm – 10.30pm and is priced at RM238 nett per adult and RM119 nett per child (6-12 years old). Hilton Honors members can enjoy up to 25% off. For reservations, please call +603 2264 2264 or book online.

We were invited by Hilton Kuala Lumpur. As always, our opinions are honest and our own.
