The Pullman hotel, holding the suspense until the end, emerged as one of the final establishments to unveil its Christmas offerings this year. In these times of togetherness and love, what better than sharing a gorgeous Christmas buffet here with your loved ones?
Let’s have a look at the Christmas festivities at the Pullman KLCC, where they’ve created a magical Christmas at restaurant Sedap.
The evening commenced with a musical performance in a beautifully decorated lobby, featuring a gingerbread house and a towering Christmas tree. Following this, General Manager Wolfgang Kiesel delivered a heartfelt speech before illuminating the Christmas tree – an emblematic start to the holiday season.
The festive celebration continued with a musical interlude by the wandering carollers adding a joyful ambiance to the evening, which was further enhanced by generous offerings of glühwein!
We were then invited to restaurant Sedap at lobby level, for a lavish buffet featuring an array of traditional holiday dishes to local favourites. Santa and two elves were waiting for us – always fun for the younger ones!
Exploring the Christmas buffet
Opting for a clockwise exploration and a strategic approach, I embarked on my culinary journey. My adventure began with the sashimi and sushi corner, which was fresh and delicious. Following this, I tried another favourite of mine: the tempura station.
I continued to the table laden with an array of dishes, featuring wok-fried chicken with dried chili and cashew nuts, braised oxtail assam pedas, and mussels in coconut milk gravy. Progressing further, I reached an assortment of delights, from salmon filet in creamy green pepper sauce and Irish beef goulash to rack of lamb in Argentinian chimichurri sauce.
We had some maple glazed trio-coloured sweet potatoes as well, and duck leg confit with cherry quinoa and orange sauce. The next stop brought me to the always popular live cutting station, dedicated to slow-braised beef with roasted vegetables – delicious!
A feast for the senses at Pullman KLCC
Adjacent to this was the Italian live cooking station offering pizzas and pastas and in the midst of all this was the cheese table. But the highlight was the central bread station, with its unique attraction of a moving toy train circling around. This whimsical touch seemed to stir the childlike wonder in each of us, as we all crowded around it.
I then passed a tempting display of seafood, oysters and prawns before finally reaching the dessert corner. With a Disney-theme, the dessert station was adorned with Christmas features and familiar characters from the Snow White fairytale. Each confection was a testament to culinary artistry and irresistibly cute, like all the Christmas cupcakes, the lemon mousse Santas and the red apple cake. I did however find them a little too sweet with the exception of the delicious apple strudel.
The whole experience at restaurant Sedap at the Pullman was a feast for the senses – an evening where the magic of Christmas was not just witnessed, but savoured at every turn. So if you want to make your Christmas a memorable one for you and your family, try one of the holiday offerings at the Pullman!
