With the Olympic fever still hovering with the recent gold medals in the Paralympics and Malaysia’s fantastic show in badminton, kids in my neighbourhood have been playing badminton with great interest! That spurred me to look into where to go for sporting goods and equipment in KL. These are my first ports of call:
Decathlon
Sprawling over 2,500 sq feet, open 365 days from 9 am to 9pm, the Decathalon store opened some months ago is an outdoor and fitness enthusiast’s dream. Rows and rows of paraphernalia to meet every need. Prices are good – I found mini backpacks for RM10 and light swimming goggles for RM9. They also have some harder-to-find items like cool scooters, trampolines and basket ball hoops on a stand.
The online shop has very useful user reviews and free delivery for purchases of RM500 onwards. Kids loved the testing zone where they got to try on some roller blades and skates!
Address: 8trium, Bandar Sri Damansara, 52200, Selangor
Sports Direct
Sports Direct has stores in many malls but it’s worth a trek to get to its flagship store in Subang Jaya Industrial Estate. A large space which is especially good for outfits and shoes.
Sports Direct has an online store via Lazada with free delivery (yeay!)
Address (Flagship Store): 8, Jalan SS 13/5, Subang Jaya Industrial Estate, 47500 Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
Win Sports
I ordered a table tennis set here online – delivered on time and exactly what I was expecting. Particularly useful for equipment and accessories.
Address: No.62 Jalan Seruling 58, Taman Klang Jaya, 41200 Klang, Selangor
Royal Sporting House
Another big brand available in many malls around town – (including 1Utama, BSC and Stadium flagship store in KLCC) – but no online shop.
Kuckreja
Hockey, rugby, netball – if you are looking for something very specialised, or need equipment for coaching, check this webshop up.
