SkyBar 2026: great views, lush vibes, and cocktails that capture KL’s soul

SkyBar

I recently revisited SkyBar at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur after years away, and it felt like coming home to an old favourite – only better. This place was the first proper rooftop bar in Kuala Lumpur back in the mid-2000s, basically the pioneer that kicked off the whole sky-high drinking scene here. Everyone else followed its lead, but SkyBar still owns the best, unobstructed views of the Petronas Twin Towers. You step off the lift on Level 33, and those glittering towers are right there, no obstructions, especially as the sun sets. It’s hard to beat that skyline magic.

The recent relaunch (early 2026) has given it a fresh glow without losing the vibe. Right as you arrive, you’re greeted by this lush vertical garden – all that green foliage instantly relaxes you amid the urban buzz. The bar area looks sharper now: redesigned with sleek sculpted pillars, a stunning copper-finished ceiling that catches the light beautifully, and more comfortable seating that makes it easier to chat or people-watch.

Cocktails and food at SkyBar

The real star is the new Spirits of Kuala Lumpur cocktail series – a thoughtful tribute to the city’s neighbourhoods. The menu comes in a lovely booklet with cool references and stories about places like Chow Kit and Brickfields. I tried the SkyBar Superstars cocktails (inspired by the Twin Towers, naturally – gin based smooth, balanced, with a nod to the icons) and the South one (rum based richer, more layered flavours drawing from the south Bangsar district). All were amazing: well-crafted, strong but not overpowering, and beautifully presented. Definitely some of the best cocktails I’ve had in KL lately.

Food’s solid – shareable pizzas, pastas, small bites and desserts pair nicely if you’re staying longer. The menu might seem a bit limited but that’s not why you come here. It’s about the atmosphere, the views, and those drinks.

Entertainment-wise, there’s live music every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – and a DJ on Wednesday. The vibe is social and lively, perfect for unwinding.

And right now, the promos are great. The Golden Hour offer from 4pm to 8pm lets you get 3 cocktails for just RM108 – a steal for this quality. On Wednesdays, there’s a ladies’ night one-for-one deal too, which is always popular.

If you’re in KL, especially if you haven’t been in a while, go revisit SkyBar. It’s still the benchmark – pioneer status intact, unbeatable views, and now even more polished. I highly recommend booking ahead for peak times. Cheers to KL from up high!
