Christmas at Pullman KLCC: a winter wonderland

I attended the Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre‘s Christmas Tree & Nutcracker Wonder Light-Up ceremony, and what a lovely way to usher in the festive season! Pullman KLCC has created a lobby that feels like stepping straight into a Christmas holiday card – complete with a towering life-size Nutcracker Castle flanked by giant toy soldiers.

From the moment guests began arriving at 6:30 pm, the lobby hummed with holiday spirit. A stylish jazz ensemble set the tone with elegant renditions of Christmas carols putting everyone in a good mood. Flowing drinks and fragrant mulled wine were generously served throughout the performances, keeping glasses topped up and spirits high. The General Manager’s welcome was followed by the spectacular tree lighting complete with gently falling snow – pure magic in tropical Kuala Lumpur.

Then came the young magician (apparently the head boy from Alice Smith, but clearly destined for bigger stages). He was confident and absolutely mesmerising. His grand finale of producing six full bottles of wine from thin air left the crowd speechless. I want his number – need that trick at every future dinner party I host!

The pre-buffet entertainment closed on a high with a silver attired gospel choir filling the lobby with soulful harmonies.

The preview buffet itself was beautifully presented – one of the most striking I’ve seen. Fresh seafood on ice sparkled with oysters, prawns and sashimi; the cold cuts featured an impressive whole salmon.

The carved turkey was perfectly acceptable, but the slow roasted beef was sublime and the absolute highlight.

The Indian corner shone with fragrant Gobi Bhaji and Aloo Palak amongst others, while the Chinese steamed seabass in soy was delicate and tasty.

Yet nothing prepared me for the dessert station: a whimsical wonderland of creativity.

Santa cupcakes, reindeer cake pops, gingerbread everything, and the undisputed star – a Christmas tart with Santa sprawled face-down in the filling as if he’d started the celebrations a little early.

The attention to detail was extraordinary; every piece looked almost too adorable to eat (almost). The pastry team clearly had the time of their lives designing it, and their joy was infectious. I giggled, took far too many photos, and happily helped myself to seconds.

While the savoury dishes varied in impact, the overall Christmas atmosphere was impeccable – warm, elegant, and genuinely heart-lifting. Pullman KLCC has created a lobby that feels like stepping straight into a Christmas holiday card. If you’re in need of an instant dose of festive cheer this is the place to be this December.

The magic runs from 1 December 2025 right through 6 January 2026, with Sedap Restaurant rolling out full Nutcracker-themed buffets for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s.
