Every first Sunday of the month, head down to I-City, Shah Alam to partake in DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam‘s most popular restaurant in the area, Tosca Trattoria Italiana. Feasting times are 11.30am to 3pm, so take your time filling your bellies.
One hundred and forty eight 5 star reviews (#1 out of 144 restaurants in Shah Alam!) on TripAdvisor (at the time of writing), and you know you are in for a treat. We rocked up to Tosca at 11.30am sharp on the first Sunday of October and were blown away by the spread, the choice, the freshness, the service, and the drinks.

On the menu
The Tosca brunch includes many unusual but highly desired items, including;
Access to a swimming pool, a thrice refillable Seafood Platter (loaded with oysters, prawns, crabs, mussels, that honestly the four of us couldn’t finish) that is brought to your table, a cocktail of choice mixed by the famous mixologist Mr KK (followed by two wines), a Cheese Buffet (the mozzarella and burrata tasted sublime with Ritz crackers) and the a la carte of the five cooked mains available (what a wonderful way to avoid food waste, while also ensuring the food is cooked to perfection!).
First up, the drinks at Tosca – the Fraise Vetiver was strong with whisky and orange notes. The Champacca Bellini was sweet and delicious with lime notes. They aren’t stingy with the alcohol, so beware!

We also found the salad bar pretty unique & mouth watering. A full spread of tasty appetisers, little bites exploding in your mouth – Seared Tuna on Eggplant (delicate, soft, flavourful, and slightly fruity), Vegetable Caponata (fruity and sweet mix on toast), the always popular Caprese Salad and thin slices of Beef Carpaccio (hmmm, so yum). Those were just some of the salads on hand.

The kids loved the freshly cooked pizza, soft and crispy, straight out of the stone oven, which we didn’t want to waste our stomachs on, but couldn’t stop eating thereafter – such bouncy soft fresh bread!
Then came the table service part of the brunch at Tosca – the Seafood Platter came first on a bed of dry ice (very dramatic and fun) and then little croutons of fresh, crisp and creamy salmon ceviche on a crispy bed of rice cake, followed. Then they asked us to choose which our mains (there are five options available).
We tried one of each of the top four – one lamb, one beef and two pastas. The Black Angus Striploin Steak – medium (salty, thick, tender and perfectly cooked), Calabrese Style Lamb (also tender and the lamb experts at the table said it was really well cooked. Ask for well done. Full of flavour), the Spicy King Prawn Arabbiata Fettuccini was full of fresh, firm meat but was a little too spicy for some of us. The Paccheri all’Amatriciana pasta had perfect consistency accompanied with creamy tomato gooeyness with salty veal bacon. The last chicken we didn’t get to sample, but we’re looking forward to coming back to Tosca to try it!

By now we were stuffed, but we had to try the desserts. As you can imagine, they were simply decadent! Some of our favorites included; Choc Cup Custard with Grape, Moist Raspberry Cake, Vanilla Panna Cotta Raspberry Smoothie Custard with Choc Shell, and Lemon Meringue. Tiramisu was light and fluffy with creamy coffee taste (freshly baked, not too much sponge), rich Trifle (bit too sweet) but yum, and mini rich Chocolate Tortes.
Prolong your visit
It’s a great place for a staycation. Get away from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur, and find several attractions nearby including; Fun Park, Central Mall, Water Park, and Snow City. The Ferris wheel opposite the dining area, lights up at 7pm and casts an entertaining light in the evenings. Overall best value for money! Highly recommended !
The Stirred and Served Bubbly Brunch at Tosca is priced at RM168 nett with three alcoholic drinks. It is also available without drinks ar RM128 nett.
