A restorative spa session at St. Gregory, PARKROYAL COLLECTION KL

St Gregory

With Mother’s Day around the corner – and my kids well past the age of making hand-drawn flowers – I thought it was a great excuse to sneak off for a spa day… all in the name of a review, of course.

Upon entering the St. Gregory spa on the 6th floor of the hotel, I was kindly greeted by Niya, who also turned out to be my massage therapist. Hailing from Indonesia, she is one of four therapists working at the spa. After filling out the health questionnaire, I was asked to choose from three different kind of oils. Since I was still battling the effects of the night before – it was the weekend, after all – I went with the relaxing oil, subtly scented with lavender.

The Royal Heritage Experience

I had opted for the 75 minutes St. Gregory Royal Heritage Signature Massage plus a ginger scrub, at the recommendation of Niya, who seemed to sense my need for a restorative experience. Honestly, it was a hard choice to make – the spa menu is extensive, with a wide range of massages and facials. I also loved the look of the add-ons, like the scalp massage, foot massage, and neck/shoulder massage.

The treatment room in St. Gregory had everything I needed: good atmospheric lighting, a comfortable temperature, and a massage bed with enough space for my head (trust me, some don’t – maybe my head is just big!). First came the scrub – great pressure, lovely ginger scent – followed by a quick rinse in the shower conveniently located right next to the bed. Wow, my skin wasn’t just glowing afterward – it was smooth as silk.

Back on the bed for part two: the massage. And it was performed extremely well. In my opinion, there are decent massages, and there are excellent ones. I’m happy to report the massage at St. Gregory fell definitely into the latter category. I had mentioned during intake that my neck and shoulders were feeling sore – a side effect of typing in a no doubt questionable position – and Niya really focused on those areas. I felt noticeably looser and more relaxed afterward.

It was such a treat! The combination of the Royal Heritage Signature Massage and the ginger scrub blend of lemongrass, lime, and ginger left me feeling balanced, revived, and completely at peace. What made the experience at St. Gregory stand out was the personal attention, the professional approach, and the therapist’s clear knowledge about the products used. The spa uses top-shelf brands like Elemis and Biossentials.

After the treatment, Niya ushered me into a serene space for tea and refreshments – the perfect end to a wonderful experience. Next time, I’ve got my eye on the Elemis Skin Nourishing Milk Bath – 30 minutes of milky, fragrant bliss. Can’t wait.
