Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre has gone a different route this year in terms of its Christmas offering. It is the only hotel in town (that I know of) that is holding a Christmas event centred around, and catered towards younger children.
Let’s step into Santa’s Magical Village
Santa’s Magical Village will be held in the Grand Ballroom, which has been kitted out with various carnival games, a ball pit, a bouncy castle (which is shaped like an igloo and is super cute) and even a spinning ‘tea cup’ (albeit a teeny tiny one, but then again, the event is done up with young children in mind). Although, the attendants on hand assured me that it would be ok for me to go on it – I didn’t, lest I break it!
There are also rotating DIY workshops of party hat, balloon, and slime. I will admit that seeing the set-up of the activity area, made me wistful for the teen to be back in his younger years again – he would’ve love everything on hand. So much fun to be had!
On top of these activities, there’s the requisite live carolling, Santa and Santarina appearances and even a magic show. The live carolling was a tad loud. You might want to protect your little ones’ ears if you’re bringing wee ones.
Food at Santa’s Magical Village
The spread on the other hand admittedly is limited, but is sufficient. There are salads, hot food, desserts and coffee or tea along with soft drinks. There isn’t turkey on offer but there’s Cajun Spiced Roast Chicken (which was a tad dry), Seabass with Caper Cream Sauce (too fishy smelling for me but the teen loved it) and Roast Leg of Lamb (this was a winner for me – tender and full of flavour).
As the event really revolves around younger children, there are also nuggets and fries (which went in minutes as they were put on a lower table – the perfect height for children). You’d be surprised to know (or maybe not) that the teen loaded up on these too – ha! There’s also Mac & Cheese which was yummy and I’m not ashamed to say that I took a heapful for myself. Like in any carnival, there are also the Popcorn and Candy Floss carts.
Desserts that stood out were the Milo Cheesecake and White Coffee Crème Brulee. I love that they incorporated local ingredients into the menu.
If tending to your children gets too much for you – not that I’m recommending that you drink and watch your children, just maybe a glass or two, there is the add-on beverage package priced at RM135 nett per person.
Santa’s Magical Village is available daily from 21 – 26 December 2024, 6:00pm – 10:30pm. It is priced at RM198 nett per adult and RM168 nett per child.
There’s a 20% early bird discount for Santa’s Magical Village reservations until 10 December 2024. You can book here. Use code SANTA20 for 20% off tickets to Santa’s Magical Village.
