Christmas feast at Thyme, PARKROYAL COLLECTION: two thumbs up!

Parkroyal Christmas

Thyme restaurant in PARKROYAL COLLECTION KL – how you blew us away. Such a warm cosy atmosphere with the best Christmas decor that we have seen so far, where we were met with a sumptuous feast for the eyes. With watering mouths and aching bellies, we walked the counters taking the required videos and photos before we could dig in. A regular smorgasbord of dishes on display with such attention to detail.

Western cuisine at Thyme

With an impressively displayed whole salmon coated with thin cucumber slices, accompanied by a fruit jelly, this salmon was deliciously flaky and fresh. Next to it sat a full cheese board with so many options, pieces of fig interlaid. Next were the fresh oysters, lobster (tender and fresh), prawn, crabs, bamboo clams, green mussels, yabbies and lokan. Moving onto the fresh salad options, we tried the al denté pasta salad and a refreshing apple and strawberry waldorf type salad.

Nearby was a live risotto station complete with a full parmesan wheel! Seriously delicious and fresh as the staff only make a little at a time, to ensure the parmesan doesn’t get glumpy (yes, that’s a new word but you know what I mean). The beef ribs were magnificent, the roast turkey went well with the gravy, lamb legs superbly cooked. I then discovered to my delight, yorkshire pudding! Perfect little gravy boats. Large asparagus were huge and perfectly cooked, so delightfully fresh.

We have to recommend also the juicy lamb flap with BBQ sauce, the surprisingly tender mussels with perfectly paired mild chili sauce, the crusted herb salmon with dill mash, the peppery beef ribeye roulade and the surprisingly tasty yet simple margherita pizza.

Asian cuisine at Thyme

Sashimi at Thyme

Some divine sushi, and the freshest sliced sashimi on offer. Thyme had a wide range of Asian dishes; teriyaki saba, chicken katsu, nonya laksa, assam laksa, spiced seafood briyani, a full noodle station, super fresh tasty steam fish, oxtail assam pedas, vindaloo, aloo gobi and delicious chicken tikka paired well with the mint sauce.

All the stations at Thyme were magnificent to behold, but the desserts really stood out. Some of the offerings interspaced with the magnificent decorations were; ice kacang, crepe, butter pudding, tarts and puddings and pies of all sizes. We tried the coconut tart with icing sugar, the smooth strawberry and red velvet mousse with a crunchy biscuit base, the sweet strawberry shortcake, the gooey tart lemon meringue, the apple crumble bites, the not-too-sweet creamy strawberry trifle.

We also loved all the fresh fruits and herbs used as well as displayed on the counter tops, bringing an extra lush and inviting feel. Easy parking, attentive staff, sumptuous food, beautiful decor. Rated 10/10. Worth the battle through city traffic.
