Walking into the Drawing Room at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur is like walking into splendour – floor to ceiling glass windows with a huge Fernando Botero Horse sculpture standing proudly in the middle.
Upon arriving they treated us to a small activity involving icing in piping bags and creating letters to Santa! All available for purchase at the front of the Drawing Room. Very cute activities for your kids to try.
Christmas Afternoon Tea: let’s eat
Sitting down amid all the opulence for the Christmas Afternoon Tea, we ordered the house specialty tea and the lavender tea to try – both refreshing and delicate and waited for the first course, which did not disappoint! Arriving in their own wooden mailboxes, the Salmon Mille-Feuille with Salmon Mousse, Coriander and Granny Smith Apple, was amazingly creamy with just the right hint of fish and tartness.
The second course was a display of 4 delectable tasty morsels that exploded in your mouth – I personally loved them all. The creamy slightly sweet Foie Gras Terrine with Valrhona Chocolate and Cranberry Chutney, the fragrant Mushroom Croquette with Truffle Aioli, the aromatic Truffle Egg Mayo Sandwiches and the burst of flavour from the Duck Rillettes Tartlet with Fig Marmalade and Pickled Onion. The pairings were wonderful!
We were then offered some succulent Turkey with vegetable sides and a choice of oysters and caviar (which sadly we did not partake) – all very delicious and fresh as you can imagine, but what stole the show were the Braised Honey Carrots. Yum.
*This is not part of the Christmas Afternoon Tea but will be available at the festive meals at The Brasserie.
After a brief respite they came out with the offering of desserts – each displayed on their own little stand. The perfect Choux with creamy Red Bean Filling, Matcha Cream and Matcha Whipped Ganache (flavourful and not too sweet), the crunchy nutty Macaron with Blueberry Gel and White Chocolate Ganache, the Chocolate Cake, Hazelnut and Lemon Crunchy Tart had a perfectly smooth Raspberry Mousse Dome, the uniquely flavoured Banana Passion Jelly, Chocolate Sleigh and Milk Chocolate Mousse in Gift Box was divine, and the cute Mailbox with Bon Bon with Caramel Milk Chocolate and Chocolate Sable.
There was also an interactive activity as part of the Christmas Afternoon Tea – Letter to Santa. Chocolate Frame, Sablé and Edible Letter were presented to the table on mini easels, along with edible markers. We were then told to write our messages on our very own chocolate frames! It was a little fun thing to do in the middle of the tea.
As you can imagine we were quite stuffed by this point, but the waiter then came out with the final course – choices of both Plain and Cranberry Scones with Strawberry and Lemon Jam and Clotted Cream. We practically had to roll ourselves to our cars at the end.
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, so why not treat yourself with or without your family, or better yet, bring your family and let the little ones enjoy some Christmas craft time with the Gingerbread Post Office Workshop (Exclusively on 15th, 22nd, 24th & 25th December only).
The Christmas Afternoon Tea is priced at RM188 nett per person. To book this splendiferous experience, check out Christmas Afternoon Tea.
Whilst having your Christmas Afternoon Tea, you can also check out the St. Regis KL x Maison Q limited reversible capsule collection for a spot of shopping!
We were invited by The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur. As always, our opinions are honest and our own.
