We recently visited The Museum of Illusions KL located in Bukit Bintang and we all had tonnes of fun! At first I thought it would be just an ordinary ‘trick eye’ or 3D museum but it is far more than that.
Cool exhibits
There are 16 main exhibits/illusions – holograms, stereograms, and optical illusions – and the staff are very helpful and informative. We had one member of the staff accompany us and explain every illusion. He also helped us to take perfect photos!
My kids loved the Vortex Tunnel and kept going in and out for more than 10 times, whereas their mother backed off after 3 steps – the tunnel made my head spin and I lost my balance! But I loved the kaleidoscope: the photo will make an excellent social media profile picture!
The Anti-Gravity Room was another favourite. In order to take the perfect photo you actually need to lie down on the floor for the best angle.
Besides all the exhibits there are three puzzle stations (two on first floor and one on the second floor) to stimulate your brain and test your patience. My kids spent ages trying to solve the puzzles.
There is also a puzzle shop at the end of the exhibits. The puzzles for sale range from simple to impossible, and they also have other merchandise, such as bendy pencils, t-shirts and notebooks on offer.
Our verdict on Museum of Illusions KL
I personally loved this place and the kids had fun, too! It was fascinating to learn a bit about how the human mind can be tricked with illusions. The place is new, clean and even if it is not massive, it has enough to keep you entertained for an hour or two. The friendly and informative staff make the experience very pleasant – well worth trip, we say.
Tip: The Museum of Illusions is located at Ansa Kuala Lumpur, a boutique hotel right opposite the Pavilion Shopping Centre. You can park your car at the Pavilion and walk across.
