The Elements Resort Krabi

Finding a hotel that fit our budget during high season in Krabi was a bit of a challenge! We wanted big rooms and a great pool near the beach – not a combo that comes cheap anywhere these days. The Elements Resort Krabi resort had a fantastic offer of three nights for the price of two with a few nice extras so off we went.

Having done our research, we knew to not to expect too much of the beach, and that it would be a bit isolated.

The pool was indeed great: some of us appreciated most the pool bar, some the cool sprays of water inside the pool. There are not many sun loungers, and they are in the direct sun for the most of the day.

The breakfast included cappuccinos and there was a good spread of Western and Asian options. Lunch and dinner were a bit hit and miss – some dishes were good, others just average.

The rooms were spacious and the air con strong. A large balcony overlooking the pool for an evening chat after the kids have gone to bed is always a plus. We asked for an extra bed, that fitted in fine.

The beach across the street from the resort was as bad as expected. The tide pulls away the shallow water, and the quarries on both sides really are an eyesore. On the plus side, boats for the island tours can pick you up from the beach in front saving you a trip to Ao Nang.

The resort has thought about kids: there is a play console with Wii games, table foosball, pool and batik painting (batik for extra charge). In the garden they have a volleyball net and traditional brain games (is this a word?) are brought out in the afternoons. As well as free afternoon treats – we had ice lollies!

The hotel is located too far from the action of Klong Muang beach to walk with little people. On the other hand, they do rent bikes and mopeds, and run a free shuttle to Ao Nang and Krabi Town night market. We did not spot any tuk-tuks on the stretch from Klong Muang to the hotel so needed to take hotel cars and asked the restaurants to call us a car – that gets quite pricey.
