Royal Malaysian Air Force Museum

The Royal Malaysian Air Force Museum is a great place to take all small and big people interested in planes, helicopters and history of Malaysian military aviation. The place has a rather, ehem, nostalgic feel to it, but you get to see planes and it’s free.

The museum is located inside the airbase in Sungai Besi, the location of the first international airport in Kuala Lumpur. Some of the planes are inside a hangar, others outside on the grassy field. Getting to play pilot made the day for the chaps. I’m not sure if you can still get into this helicopter (according to this article only two of the planes are now open to public).

While I was concentrating on snapping photos of my little pilots, some people lived through their favourite war films. While not a top attraction, it’s a great stop for anyone mad about planes – or looking for a quirky background to their photos. I even saw a local pop group filming a music video in front of the planes.

As usual, it can be very hot, so go prepared.
